Allergies – Part 1

Studies show that half of the people in the world have allergies.  During the holiday season, allergy symptoms are particularly rampant.  Why is this?  Foods containing sugar, dairy, wheat, yeasts, alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, chemicals, and allergens are more prominent during the holidays.  Stress is another cause for allergies.  When one indulges in yeast-favorite foods and are not managing stress well, the overgrowth of yeasts and parasites becomes inevitable.

Allergy Symptoms

Allergy symptoms can manifest from head to toe.  The following are common symptoms affecting people regardless of age, sex, or ethnicity:

Headaches:  Recurrent and frequent sinus or migraine headaches.

Mid-ear Infections:  Infants and children are very susceptible to mid-ear infections.  In most cases, they inherited the yeast disorder from their mother’s bloodstream or birth canal.  Perpetual mid-ear infections also cause Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) or Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD).

Eye Problems:  Irritation of the eyes, burning and swelling of eyelids, dryness of eyes or decreased vision.

Sore Throat:  Recurrent and prolonged sore throat or tonsillitis and difficulty in swallowing.

Mouth Thrush: Especially common among people with AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) or ARC (AIDS Related Complex), or infants.

Respiratory system: Bronchitis, asthma, pneumonia, tightness of chest, sinus infections, excessive mucus and post-nasal drip.

Digestive System:  Bloatedness in stomach and abdomen after eating, indigestion, constipation, diarrhea, ulcerative colitis, cravings for sugar, cheese, bread, caffeine, nicotine, alcohol or drugs and inability to lose or gain weight regardless of the amount of food intake.

Immune System:  Susceptibility to colds, flu, and infections; extreme fatigue and low energy.

Cardiovascular System:  Sluggish blood circulation, palpitation, cold hands and feet and varicose veins.

Reproductive System:  Impotence, painful sexual intercourse, vaginal or prostate infections, PMS (Premenstrual Syndrome), vaginal itch, endometriosis and menstrual irregularities, and menopausal symptoms.

Elimination System:  Kidney or bladder infections, hemorrhoids, mucus in stools, anal itching and burning during urination.

Skin:  Acne, eczema, psoriasis, scaly skin, lesions, rashes, athlete’s foot, cellulite, inflammation of tips of fingers and toes, hair loss and brittle nails.

Endocrine System: Hypothyroidism, hypoglycemia and diabetes mellitus.

Muscular-skeletal System:  Aches and pains in muscles and joints, bursitis, stiff and swollen fingers, and recurrent pain in the neck, shoulders and back.

In addition to physical symptoms, the following mental/psychological symptoms can also be present:

Mental Concentration:  Poor memory and mental concentration, mind fog, drowsiness.

Depression:  Loss of interest in daily life activities and suicidal thoughts.

Mood Swings:  Anger, irritability, frustration and defensiveness.

Phobia:  Fear of motions such as in/on an elevator, escalator, airplane, train, bus or boat, or fear of moving crowds (agoraphobia or social phobia).

Anxiety Attacks:  Inability to handle daily chores, shortness of breath and panic.

Insomnia:  Inability to fall asleep or to sleep through the night.

Regardless of the symptoms, the treatment principles are basically the same:

1) stay on an anti-yeast nutritional program to prevent worsening of yeast infections.

2) use strong Chinese herbal formulas to cleanse accumulated toxins

3) manage stress effectively

4) Release negative emotions such as anger, resentment, guilt, and regret.

In the next article, I will elaborate on drug-free, holistic treatment for allergies.  Stay tuned.

In Part 1 of this article, I discussed that based on my three decades of clinical experience, asthma is caused by environmental factors, including physical and psychological.  The following holistic treatments have been time tested by my clients to be effective in stopping asthma attacks:

1. Avoiding Food Allergens

As addressed in the previous article, food items such as dairy, sugar, wheat, and yeasts tend to trigger asthma attacks.  Essentially, a yeast-free nutritional program containing no sugar, no dairy, no wheat, no yeasts, no alcohol, no caffeine, no nicotine (both primary smoking and secondary inhalation), nor chemicals works exceedingly well to avoid food allergens. To learn what to eat and what to avoid, follow my yeast-free cookbook, Healthy and Tasty: Dr. J’s Anti-Yeast Cooking.

2. Herbal Therapy

The following formulas have been proven to be very effective: With our Herbal Detox program, Cleansing-Balance Tea helps to clear mucous in the respiratory tract while Yeast-Para Control removes excess yeast and parasites and heals inflammation caused by yeast and parasitic infections.  Hormonal Regeneration (Female Vitalityor Male Vitality) increases energy level and improves immunity.  Herbal Cocktail starves yeasts and parasites and replenishes your body.  Based on my clients’ reports, the combination of the above formulas work synergistically to stop and prevent asthma attacks.

3. Reducing “Physical Triggers”

Keep your environment dry, clean and free of mold and dust.  Avoid contact with cats and/or dogs because their fur usually carries yeast and parasites.  These “physical triggers” could lead to asthma symptoms such coughing, wheezing, difficulty breathing, airway constriction, and tightness of the chest.

4. Managing “Psychological Triggers”

Asthma is a symbol of suppressed feelings of fear.  As described in a previous article, the first asthmatic attack is usually triggered when facing a situation that threatens your sense of security.  This “scary” life event may occur during early childhood. When the negative emotions are lodged in the respiratory system and remain unresolved, the asthma symptoms can be carried into adulthood. You need to reprogram your mind to focus on the fact that you survived the ordeals and are still in one piece!  It is time for you to let go of these asthmatic symptoms and learn a more effective way to “express” your suppressed feelings.

Although most literature indicate that asthma is not curable, my experiences with clients reveal that asthma is controllable if you employ the above drug-free, holistic treatment methods.

It’s estimated that more than 22 million Americans have asthma — that’s about one out of every 13 people! Globally, that number of people with asthma has been growing in recent years.

Most health professionals claim that causes for asthma are unknown.  Some even blamed genetics.  Based on my decades of experience working with children and adults with asthma, my observation is that asthma is caused by environmental factors, both physical and psychological!

Physically speaking, it’s the inflammation of the airway lining and the constriction of the airway passage that causes the breathing difficulties including wheezing, coughing, shortness of breath, tightness in the chest, mucous in the airway, etc.  Physical factors tend to be triggered by molds, dusts, pollen, cigarette smoke (both primary and secondary), dogs, cats, and food allergens such as dairy, sugar, wheat, and yeasts (including mushrooms and yeasty food like peanuts)

From a psychological perspective, unresolved traumatic life events become the anchor of the asthmatic attacks.  The following is an example:

When Cathy was four years old, her parents got divorced.  She secretly wished that her parents would get back together.  Her “dream” disrupted when she witnessed her mom kissing her future stepfather at the beach.  That was the time she had her first asthma attack.  She carried the asthma symptoms into adulthood….

In the next article, I will discuss in detail the holistic treatment for asthma.  Stay tuned!
