Allergies – Part 1

Studies show that half of the people in the world have allergies.  During the holiday season, allergy symptoms are particularly rampant.  Why is this?  Foods containing sugar, dairy, wheat, yeasts, alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, chemicals, and allergens are more prominent during the holidays.  Stress is another cause for allergies.  When one indulges in yeast-favorite foods and are not managing stress well, the overgrowth of yeasts and parasites becomes inevitable.

Allergy Symptoms

Allergy symptoms can manifest from head to toe.  The following are common symptoms affecting people regardless of age, sex, or ethnicity:

Headaches:  Recurrent and frequent sinus or migraine headaches.

Mid-ear Infections:  Infants and children are very susceptible to mid-ear infections.  In most cases, they inherited the yeast disorder from their mother’s bloodstream or birth canal.  Perpetual mid-ear infections also cause Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) or Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD).

Eye Problems:  Irritation of the eyes, burning and swelling of eyelids, dryness of eyes or decreased vision.

Sore Throat:  Recurrent and prolonged sore throat or tonsillitis and difficulty in swallowing.

Mouth Thrush: Especially common among people with AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) or ARC (AIDS Related Complex), or infants.

Respiratory system: Bronchitis, asthma, pneumonia, tightness of chest, sinus infections, excessive mucus and post-nasal drip.

Digestive System:  Bloatedness in stomach and abdomen after eating, indigestion, constipation, diarrhea, ulcerative colitis, cravings for sugar, cheese, bread, caffeine, nicotine, alcohol or drugs and inability to lose or gain weight regardless of the amount of food intake.

Immune System:  Susceptibility to colds, flu, and infections; extreme fatigue and low energy.

Cardiovascular System:  Sluggish blood circulation, palpitation, cold hands and feet and varicose veins.

Reproductive System:  Impotence, painful sexual intercourse, vaginal or prostate infections, PMS (Premenstrual Syndrome), vaginal itch, endometriosis and menstrual irregularities, and menopausal symptoms.

Elimination System:  Kidney or bladder infections, hemorrhoids, mucus in stools, anal itching and burning during urination.

Skin:  Acne, eczema, psoriasis, scaly skin, lesions, rashes, athlete’s foot, cellulite, inflammation of tips of fingers and toes, hair loss and brittle nails.

Endocrine System: Hypothyroidism, hypoglycemia and diabetes mellitus.

Muscular-skeletal System:  Aches and pains in muscles and joints, bursitis, stiff and swollen fingers, and recurrent pain in the neck, shoulders and back.

In addition to physical symptoms, the following mental/psychological symptoms can also be present:

Mental Concentration:  Poor memory and mental concentration, mind fog, drowsiness.

Depression:  Loss of interest in daily life activities and suicidal thoughts.

Mood Swings:  Anger, irritability, frustration and defensiveness.

Phobia:  Fear of motions such as in/on an elevator, escalator, airplane, train, bus or boat, or fear of moving crowds (agoraphobia or social phobia).

Anxiety Attacks:  Inability to handle daily chores, shortness of breath and panic.

Insomnia:  Inability to fall asleep or to sleep through the night.

Regardless of the symptoms, the treatment principles are basically the same:

1) stay on an anti-yeast nutritional program to prevent worsening of yeast infections.

2) use strong Chinese herbal formulas to cleanse accumulated toxins

3) manage stress effectively

4) Release negative emotions such as anger, resentment, guilt, and regret.

In the next article, I will elaborate on drug-free, holistic treatment for allergies.  Stay tuned.

As mentioned in the previous article, leaky gut syndrome is not a recognized diagnosis by the western medical establishment.  The symptoms of leaky gut syndrome mimic symptoms discussed in previous articles including Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, fibromyalgia, Irritated Bowel Syndrome, Lyme disease, etc.  It does not matter what kind of diagnosis you have, what matters is that you need to get well!

Many medical doctors may say there was “nothing wrong” with you according to their tests; or worse, you were told it was “all in your head” and gave you prescriptions for depression, pain, insomnia, etc.

Based on my more than three decades of clinical experience working with clients with inflammations of the gastric-intestinal tract (GI tract), the following have been the most effective holistic treatment methods:

1)    Yeast-free nutritional program:

If you have been reading my articles, you must be familiar with my yeast-free nutritional program containing no sugar, no dairy, no wheat, no yeasts, no alcohol, no caffeine, no nicotine, nor chemicals.  My clients call it “Dr. J’s Eight Commandments”.  You might ask, “How long should I stay on Dr. J’s yeast-free nutritional program?”  This is essentially a nutritional program for life.  This is why I do not label this program a “diet.”  Diets denote a temporary eating habit.  If you want to nourish your body and starve the yeasts and parasites, it is recommended that you stay on our yeast-free nutritional program as much as you can, especially in the first three to six months of the treatment.  When your immunity is stronger, you can “relax” a little bit on the no-no items.  However, you do need to prepare for the consequences whenever you deviate from our yeast-free nutritional program.  To learn what to eat and what to avoid, follow my yeast-free cookbook, Healthy and Tasty: Dr. J’s Anti-Yeast Cooking.

2)    Herbal Therapy

Based on my clinical experience, I have found that many diagnoses share the same symptoms of yeast and parasitic infections.  Once we remove excessive yeasts and parasites in the body, the inflammation of the GI tract is under control.  Our Yeast-Para Control formula is designed for this purpose.  According to my best knowledge, our Yeast-Para Control is the only formula that can remove yeasts and parasites simultaneously.  Remember, yeasts and parasites are like Siamese twins.  They must be removed simultaneously from your body in order for you to get well.  Yeast-Para Control loosens the toxins in the body, and Cleansing-Balance Tea flushes the toxins.  The two formulas work synergistically together to remove excess yeasts and parasites.

Herbal Cocktail is essential to repair the damaged linings of stomach and intestines (both small and large intestines).  It’s a high protein herbal drink rich in absorbable nutrients and digestive enzymes.  You can mix with Cleansing-Balance Tea or make a delicious herbal smoothie.

Fatigue and mind fog are common symptoms for people with leaky gut syndrome. The Hormonal Regeneration program (Female Vitality or Male Vitality) gives you calm energy and increases mental clarity and productivity.  These products also improve sex drive.

The combination of the above formulas would help you experience symptom relief to a greater or lesser degree.  How long do you need to stay on the herbal program?  It depends on your health condition, commitment and budget.  I customize the treatment program to suit your individual needs.

3)    Stress management

Stress is part of life.  No one is immune to it.  Daily meditation, affirmations, prayers, and deep emotional releasing technique, are all very helpful to manage stress effectively.   Read my book, Breaking the Yeast Curse: Food and Unconditional Love for Magic Healing, for details.

4)    Proper hydration

Drink eight to ten cups of liquid per day to ensure smooth elimination of toxins.  Initially this might seem to worsen the symptoms of diarrhea, but eventually the condition will improve.  Besides, chronic diarrhea can cause dehydration, which in turn can cause many other symptoms, such as muscle cramps.  If you are on our Herbal Detoxprogram, you will be instructed to drink at least six cups of Cleansing-Balance Tea, in addition to our herbal smoothies, soups and water.

5)    Low-impact exercise

When you experience chronic fatigue, the last thing you want to do is exercise.  However, it’s important to “force” yourself to do some low-impact exercise such as slow walking in your neighborhood.  You may start from ten minutes and slowly increase based on your body’s strength.  Exercise generates endorphins (the morphine within – a natural pain killer), and it will help reduce arthritis-like aches and pain.  Fresh air and better blood circulation will also improve your overall well-being.

According to the National Commission on Sleep Disorders Research, at least 40 million Americans suffer from chronic sleep disorders (insomnia) and another 20 to 30 million experience occasional sleep problems.

Causes of insomnia may include a wide variety of things such as stress (too many things on one’s mind), anxiety, depression, side effects of medication one takes, the amount of caffeine one drinks (caffeinated coffee and/or tea),  going to bed hungry, etc.

Common symptoms of insomnia include:

  • Difficulty falling asleep at night or getting back to sleep after waking during the night.
  • Sleep is light and fragmented
  • The need of taking sleeping pills, and/or use of nightcaps in order to get to sleep.
  • Experience of sleepiness, fatigue, low energy, poor mental concentration, low productivity, depression, and irritability during the day.

Drug Free, Holistic Treatment for Insomnia:

Based on my more than 30 years of clinical experience, the most effective natural remedies are to remove both physical and mental toxins.  The following have been reported by my clients as most effective:

1)    Yeast-Free Nutritional Program:

When yeasts and parasites are well fed, they can keep you awake at night, because they love a still environment.  As much as you can, stay on a yeast-free nutritional program containing no sugar, no dairy, no wheat, no yeasts, no caffeine, no alcohol, no nicotine nor chemicals.   To learn what to eat and what to avoid, follow my yeast-free cookbook, Healthy and Tasty: Dr. J’s Anti-Yeast Cooking.

1)    Herbal Therapy:

Our Herbal Detox program: Yeast-Para Control and Cleansing-Balance Tea are designed to remove excess yeasts, parasites, and toxins.  Therefore, you can rest more peacefully and harmoniously at night.  Staying on our Herbal Detox program may help you wean yourself off of medication you may be taking, especially medication that is supposed to treat other drugs’ side effects.

2)    Regular Exercise:

In addition to your exercise routine during the day time, slow walking after dinner is particularly beneficial to your digestion and can help you sleep better.  The endorphins (endo-morphine) generated through this low impact exercise give a sense of calmness and harmony.

3)    Not Going to Bed Hungry:

An empty stomach can keep you awake!  Have some sugar free, dairy free, wheat free, and yeast free snack ready if you must eat something before bed.  In my yeast-free cookbook, Healthy and Tasty: Dr. J’s Anti-Yeast Cooking, there are some recipes for baked goods such as muffins, cookies, brownies, etc. you can bake, and have them ready if need them to avoid hypoglycemia.  Have one of these baked goods with a warm cup of Cleansing-Balance Tea and a scoop of Herbal CocktailYour stomach will be happy and this will help you sleep through the night.  For a parallel, have you observed that hungry babies tend to wake up frequently at night?

4)    Salt Shower and Warm Bath:

Take a salt shower first, then soak in warm to hot water for 10 to 15 minutes before bed.  Salt showers clean the negative energy that has been clinging onto you; and the warm bath relaxes your tight muscles.

5)    Ten-Minute Meditation:

For those with tight schedules, my Ten-Minute meditation technique works very well for insomnia because it’s short and easy to follow.  To learn this simple technique, read my book: Breaking the Yeast Curse: Food and Unconditional Love for Magic Healing.

6)    Emotional Releasing Technique:

Another technique you can use is the Emotional Releasing Technique in my book: Breaking the Yeast Curse: Food and Unconditional Love for Magic HealingThis can help you release the insomniac energy and quickly help you get to or fall back to sleep.

If you combine any of the above recommendations, chances are you will have a surprisingly good night’s sleep and say goodbye to insomnia without drugs!  If your sleep disorders are caused by unfinished business, you will get long-lasting results if you uproot the core of your stress, anxiety, or depression.  You might need to consult with an experienced counselor who specializes in spiritual counseling to accomplish this.

Q.        I have been depressed for years.  I am now on three kinds of anti-depressants and two kinds of sleeping pills.  Can I take these medications and Dr. J’s products at the same time?  I am on a budget.  What herbal products can I take?

A.        There are no conflicts between our herbal products and antidepressants or sleeping pills.  Symptoms of depression vary among different individuals.  Our herbal products can
provide you with some degree of symptom relief. For example, Herbal Detox (Yeast-Para Control and Cleansing-Balance Tea) is good to remove excess yeasts and parasites in your body, and allow you to sleep better at night.  This may reduce your dependency on sleeping pills.

Male Vitality or Female Vitality are good to uplift your mood, give you calm energy, and improve your mental clarity and productivity.  This product is great for depression if taken on a consistent basis.

It is also important for you to adhere to a yeast-free nutritional program containing no sugar, no dairy, no wheat, no yeasts, no alcohol, no caffeine, no nicotine, nor chemicals.  Many clients reported to me that they get very depressed when they consume sugar or wheat.  Why?  When your little enemies yeasts and parasites are well-fed with their favorite food, they thrive!  Especially at night when the environment is still. This may cause insomnia.  Consequently, you feel fatigued, have low energy and low productivity the following day.  To learn what to eat and what to avoid, follow my yeast-free cookbook, Healthy and Tasty: Dr. J’s Anti-Yeast Cooking.

Exercise (slow walking), prayers, meditation, tapping, etc. are very helpful self-administered methods to reduce depression.   Please read my previous article or my book, Breaking the Yeast Curse: Food and Unconditional Love for Magic Healing for details.

Menopause is when you have not had a period (or even light spotting) for 12 consecutive months. The menopausal symptoms experienced by most women actually occur during pre- or peri-menopause period.

During the peri-menopause stage, three key hormones such estrogen, testosterone, and progesterone fluctuate, and mostly are on the decline.  Consequently, you may experience various symptoms.  The most common ones are hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, irritability, insomnia, irregular periods, loss of libido, painful intercourse, difficulty concentrating, itchy skin, headaches, bloating, gastro-intestinal disturbances (such as gas), weight gain, hair loss or thinning, light-headedness, depression and anxiety.

As your estrogen levels decline during pre-menopause,your vagina wall will become thinner and weaker. Consequently, it can be easily irritated during intercourse and leave tiny scars or cuts where bacteria and yeasts can flourish.  So, vaginal yeast infections become common symptoms associated with menopause.

Treatment basically consists of regulating the hormonal levels.  Female Vitality is excellent for that purpose.  Female Vitality contains more than 20 ingredients of high quality Chinese herbs such as Ho-Shou-Wu, black cohosh, wild yam, etc. and absorbable vitamins needed for health promotion and maintenance.  The end results:  improved conditions for your hair, nail and skin, increased mental clarity, uplifted mood, productivity and sexual energy.

Based on my more than 30 years of clinical experience, I have found that women who do not have a healthy lifestyle tend to suffer more menopausal symptoms.  For example, when sugar consumption is high, episodes of hot flashes also increase. Therefore, it’s important to follow a yeast-free nutritional program that contains no sugar, dairy, wheat, yeasts, alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, and chemicals.  It comes to a conscious decision between following the yeast-free nutritional program, or suffering from various menopausal symptoms.  If you would like to find out more about what you should eat (and what to avoid), follow the recipes in my yeast-free cookbook, Healthy and Tasty: Dr. J’s Anti-Yeast Cooking.

If you have excess toxins in your body which acerbate the menopausal symptoms, consider our Herbal Detox program (consisting of Yeast-Para Control and Cleansing-Balance Tea) to remove the toxins.

Lifestyle changes are also important for promoting a healthy menopausal process. These include regular exercise, becoming a non-smoker, and getting physically and mentally fit.  To promote your mental health, I encourage you to follow the guidelines in my book, Breaking the Yeast Curse: Food and Unconditional Love for Magic Healing

The symptoms of menopause usually last for the whole menopause transition (until the mid 50s), but some women may experience them for the rest of their lives.  Therefore, it’s important to adopt a holistic approach to eradicate or prevent menopausal symptoms.
