Q.        I am taking oral medication for Type 2 diabetes.  I would like to be off medication if I could.  I would also like to lose 50 pounds.  What should I do?

A.        Type 2 (adult-onset) diabetes can be controlled by a lifestyle change.  I am glad that you want to lose weight.  As I indicated in a previous article, fat cells are not as effective as muscle cells in utilizing insulin to burn and turn sugar into cellular fuel.  Losing excess weight (fat) and exercising regularly will strengthen your muscle cells and help better utilize the blood sugar in your blood stream, and thus reduce your oral medication dependency.

Elevated blood sugar in your blood stream feeds your little enemies – yeasts and parasites – in your body.  This can create many complications.

Here are my recommendations for people who are committed to weaning themselves off oral medication for diabetes.

1)    Yeast-free nutrition

2)    Exercise Daily

Any kind of exercises that you like or suit your energy level would help.  Slow walking 30 minutes a day is a good start.  Exercise burns calories and turns blood sugar into energy for you.  Thus, you will need less oral medication to bring the blood sugar level down.

 

3)    Herbal Therapy

According to the Natural Institute of Health (NIH), more than 65 percent of American adults are overweight (25 pounds or over).  Carrying extra weight increases the risks of developing serious health issues such as heart disease, stroke, cancers, and diabetes.

The increase of Type 2 (adult-onset) diabetes is in correlation with the rise in obesity. The American Diabetes Association estimates about 21 million people have diabetes, with another 54 million people diagnosed with pre-diabetes.  Pre-diabetes is a condition where fasting blood glucose levels are elevated, but not yet to the level of Type 2 diabetes.

What is Type 2 Diabetes?

Type 2 (adult-onset) diabetes is associated with insulin resistance. Insulin is an important hormone released by the pancreas to burn blood sugar (glucose) and turn it into energy for body cells.  Fat cells are less sensitive to insulin than muscle cells.  If a person has more fat cells than muscle cells, then the insulin becomes less effective overall, and glucose remains circulating in the blood instead of being used as fuel for body cells.

Why is a Diabetic Prone to Yeast and Parasitic Infections?

When blood sugar is unused and circulating in the blood stream, it feeds yeasts (and parasites) in your body.  When your little enemies are well fed, they have rock ‘n roll party, and then use your body as a toilet (deposits toxins)!  Most people with diabetes feel fatigued and sluggish.  If left untreated, severe symptoms may develop, such as blurred vision, poor circulation, gangrene, neuropathy, and amputation of the limbs.
