Q.  There is a lot of conflicting information on the Internet regarding Candida Cleansing Diet, what is your opinion on this?

A.  Indeed, it’s like a jungle out there in terms of information regarding the candida cleansing diet.   Oftentimes you are confused about what you can eat and what you should avoid when you try to heal yourself from candidiasis, or yeast and parasitic infections.

First of all, you need to understand that candida is a member of the yeast family.  Candida alone has 40 to 50 strains that are harmful to your health.  When yeasts are present, parasites also thrive.  I call them Siamese Twins.  Therefore, I would refer to yeast and parasite cleanse in this Q&A.

Also, the word “diet” seems to denote the meaning of being “limited” and “short term.”  Therefore, I prefer to call it an “Anti-Yeast Nutritional Program” because you can follow the nutritional principles for life to maintain optimal health.  The anti-yeast nutritional program I recommend contains no sugar, no dairy, no wheat, no yeast, no caffeine, no alcohol, no nicotine, nor chemicals.   I developed these “Eight Commandments” after I conquered a severe case of yeast and parasitic infection, and remained symptom-free for several decades.

In my yeast-free cookbook, Healthy and Tasty: Dr. J’s Anti-Yeast Cooking, you will find anti-yeast nutritional principles and recipes that nourish your body, but starve the yeasts and parasites.  The “Eight Commandments” detailed in my anti-yeast cookbook have stood the test of time.  My many clients and myself have been able to get well and stay well because of these anti-yeast nutritional principles.

When your immune system is strong, you can re-introduce food items that are on the no-no list if you go for moderation.   Occasionally, when I indulged on the no-no foods, I had to accept the consequences for it.  For example, if I had a small slice of ultra-sweet fruits such as watermelon, my body can handle it.  However, when I had a bigger slice, I would suffer from sugar headaches for a few days.  It becomes a matter of choice of what consequences you would accept when you deviate from my anti-yeast nutritional principles.

Also, please be aware that diet alone will not cure you when you suffer from chronic yeast and parasitic infections.  You do need to consider herbal therapy to eliminate excess yeasts and parasites quickly so that your body’s innate intelligence can be activated and healing can take place.  I formulated Yeast-Para Control to remove yeasts and parasites simultaneously.  Because yeasts and parasites go hand in hand, if you only treat yeast or only treat parasitic infection, sooner or later, both yeasts and parasites will come back together to “haunt” you.

I also formulated Cleansing-Balance Tea to flush the debris created by Yeast-Para Control.  It’s like this: Yeast-Para Control would scrub the toilet, and Cleansing-Balance Tea would flush the toilet.  When you combine these two formulas (Herbal Detox), together with the anti-yeast nutritional program, your body would begin to heal quickly.

As I stated in previous publications, yeasts and parasites are the “root of all evil” when health is concerned, and stress is the core of these roots.  Therefore, if you want to have long-lasting results, you must manage your stress effectively.  In my book, Breaking the Yeast Curse: Food and Unconditional Love for Magic Healing, there are several techniques you can use to reduce your stress.  They include meditation, releasing deep-rooted negative emotions, prayers, and affirmations.  To start, you may go to our website: www.drjsbest.com to download a free 10-Minute Meditation Guide to reduce stress and increase your general wellbeing.

Q.        Are laboratory tests accurate in detecting the presence of yeasts and parasites?

A.        Modern technology is improving in terms of detecting the presence of yeasts and parasites.  However, most laboratory tests and x-rays cannot do the job accurately.   Even though the recent development of DNA testing is far superior to all previous tests, the scope is limited.  Why?  Yeasts and parasites have more than 250,000 species.  Candida albicans alone has a family of more than 40 strains of harmful yeasts.  No test up to date can detect them all!

Based on my more than three decades of clinical experience, the best assessment of yeast and parasitic infections is the observation of the eyes, skin, tongue and knowledge of a detailed health history.   Most importantly, when my clients are on our Herbal Detox program, within days they will see the “evidence” in the toilet such as:

Debris of Yeasts

Cloudy or mucousy materials in the urine or stool.  Some of my clients described them as “the Milky Way” or “clouds under the water.”

Eggs of Parasites:

They look like sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, undigested brown rice, or broken corn.  You can see them in your stool or menstrual blood clots.

Mature Worms:

They come in various sizes, shapes and colors.  Pinworms appear to be fibers sticking out of your stool.  Hook worms look like spaghetti or string cheese.  Flat worms look like broken tree leaves dancing in the toilet when you flush it.

In other words, your toilet is your best laboratory!

In the previous two articles, I pointed out that yeast and parasitic infections are a global epidemic.  I also highlighted the major symptoms and causes.  To get more detailed information, you can review my book, Breaking the Yeast Curse: Food and Unconditional Love for Magic Healing.

In this article, I will address natural, drug-free treatment for yeast and parasitic infections based on my more than 30 years of clinical experience working with people from all walks of life:

1)    Anti-Yeast Nutrition:

For starters, adopt an Anti-Yeast Nutritional program for life.  This nutritional program contains no sugar, no dairy, no wheat, no yeasts, no alcohol, no caffeine, no nicotine, nor chemicals.  My clients call it “Dr. J’s Eight Commandments.”  Examples of great recipes for this program can be found in my cookbook: Healthy and Tasty: Dr. J’s Anti-Yeast Cooking.  This program is designed to starve the yeasts and parasites, nourish your body with good nutrients, and prevent new toxins from being created and built up in your body.

2)    Herbal Therapy to Remove Excess Yeasts And Parasites:

When you abuse or misuse your body for a long time, toxins would build up and may cause a multitude of health issues as described in the previous article.  One of the quickest ways to remove these toxins is using our Herbal Detox program (Yeast-Para Control and Cleansing-Balance Tea) that I formulated specifically for my clients.  Yeast-Para Control scrubs the toilet, and Cleansing-Balance Tea is like flushing the toilet.  The two formulas combined works wonders in removing yeasts and parasites simultaneously from your body, improving your immunity.  When your immunity is strong, you would be able to co-exist with your little enemies harmoniously.

3)    Manage Your Stress Effectively:

Stress is a part of life. If managed effectively, stress can propel you to a higher level of success or awakening.   Otherwise, stress can deplete your immunity and allow yeasts and parasites to overgrow.  Many ways lead to Rome.  Whatever works to release stress for you should be continued.  For myself and many of my clients, the combination of prayers (or chanting), affirmations, Vitamin “N” (N for nature), slow walking and 10-minute meditation works well to relieve stress.  You can go to my website: www.drjsbest.com to download the 10-meditation guide for FREE!  This is an invaluable gift that would benefit you for life if you use it!

4)    Exercise to Prevent Yeast and Parasitic Infections:

As stated in the previous article, yeasts and parasites love a still environment.  That’s why you might have symptoms such as sleep disorders, sinus congestion, snoring, or sleep apnea at night when you are relatively immobile.  People in the wheel chairs also have a tendency to develop urinary tract infections (UTI) caused by the overgrowth of yeasts.  If you are too tired to exercise, just start with a few minutes of slow walking or in-place jogging and gradually build up.  If you are in the wheel chair, you can also do “chair dancing” to improve your blood circulation and prevent the overgrowth of yeasts and parasites.

5)    Change Environments:

As explained before, yeasts and parasites are everywhere.   A damp environment such as woodlands and seaside dwellings, or a dusty environment such as construction sites all provide an incubator for yeasts and parasites to overgrow.  If you are exposed to yeasty or dusty environments, you are prone to having flare ups of yeast and parasitic infections.  Move to an environment which may be more suitable to improving your health.  If that is not possible, just take my Herbal Detox program (Yeast-Para Control and Cleansing-Balance Tea) routinely to remove excess yeasts and parasites.

6)    Overuse of Antibiotics or Potent Drugs:

As described in my book, Breaking the Yeast Curse: Food and Unconditional Love for Magic Healing, antibiotics or potent drugs may provide you with temporary relief.   However, the “good guys” such as bacteria floras in the intestines take a long time to re-establish, while the “bad guys” such as harmful yeasts take no time to comeback since they are air-borne and everywhere!  Thus, yeast overgrowth quickly occurs.  Worst of all, yeasts and parasites are like Siamese Twins.  They come hand in hand.  They both can create symptoms for you from head to toe.  My suggestion is avoiding antibiotics or potent drugs whenever possible.  Call me or consult with your holistic health care provider for alternatives before you take any antibiotics or potent drugs.

7)    Prevent Traveler’s Disease:

If you travel to an unfamiliar environment, I would suggest that you only drink a familiar brand of bottled water and eat food prepared by clean, prestigious hotels.  Avoid raw vegetables (salads).  Wash the fruits thoroughly and peel the skin before eating them.  Although there is no guarantee, take every precaution possible to prevent yeast and parasitic infections.

The symptoms and causes of yeast and parasitic infections may vary with each individual. I just came across some friends who have been suffering from a cluster of symptoms which are typical when infected by yeasts and parasites.  However, they did not know what they had, and whom to turn to for help.  The purpose of this three-part article is to educate you in terms of prevention and early treatment for yeast and parasitic infections.  Specifically, I will address the symptoms, causes and treatment methods for this epidemic.

Common Symptoms of Yeast and Parasitic Infections:

As detailed in my book: Breaking the Yeast Curse: Food and Unconditional Love for Magic Healing, symptoms of yeast and parasitic infections range from head to toe.  The most common symptoms presented by my clients are:

1)     Mind Fog:

When yeasts ferment in your body, they release a chemical substance called propyl alcohol.  That substance can make you feel “drunk” and experience foggy mind.

2)     Fatigue:

Yeasts and parasites use their vampire-like hooks to hook onto your mucous membrane and suck out the nutrients.  Because you are feeding an extended family, you experience malnourishment and low energy.

3)     Depression:

Because of mind fog and chronic fatigue, you feel non-motivated, inactive, underachieved, and thus depressed.

4)     Sugar Craving:

As described in my yeast-free cookbook, Healthy and Tasty: Dr. J’s Anti-Yeast Cooking, sugar, dairy, wheat, yeast, alcohol, caffeine, and nicotine feed your little enemies: yeasts and parasites, especially sugar.  The more sugary foods you eat, the more yeasts and parasites scream, “Feed me!  Feed me!”

5)     Allergies:

When you feed yeasts and parasites their favorite foods described above, they have a rock n’ roll party.  After the party, they go to the toilet within you and deposit their toxic waste.  Therefore, you can have many sorts of allergies including respiratory and food allergies.

6)     Sleep Disorder:

Yeasts and parasites love a still environment because that allows them to grow and expand more easily.  Therefore, they are active while you are in bed.  Consequently, their “activities” can keep you awake.

7)     Declining Eyesight:

Mind fog, chronic fatigue, depression and sleep disorder can all affect your eyesight.  Moreover, when parasites get into your eyes, they can cause macular degeneration.  In worst case scenarios, when flat worms get behind your eye balls, they can even cause blindness.

8)     Arthritis-like Aches and Pain:

When you have a severe case of yeast and parasitic infection, you might have systemic body aches and pain.  The toxic waste deposited by yeasts and parasites can cause severe inflammation and thus the pain.  Because yeasts and parasites move around, theses aches and pains also shift around your body.

9)     Acid Reflux:

Acid reflux can be a symptom associated with yeast and parasitic infections in the digestive tract.   The presence of yeasts and parasites interfere with the digestive function of hydrochloride.  When your body is more acidic vs. alkaline, it provides an environment for yeasts and parasites to overgrow.  Thus, a vicious cycle ensues.

10) Evidence in the toilet:

Eggs of parasites may look like sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, broken corn, or white specs in the stool.  Worse yet, you might see string cheese-like items in the toilet. These are mature worms.   Yeasts may look like cotton, or hair, or clouds in your urine.  Sometimes they show up as thick mucus.  When you see the above in your toilet, you know that you have a severe infestation.

Yeast and parasitic infection symptoms may vary with every individual.  The symptoms described above are the most common ones presented by my clients.  In the next article, I will discuss the common causes for yeast and parasitic infections.  Stay tuned.

What are yeasts?  Yeasts belong to the fungus family and candida is one strain of the yeasts.  The job of yeasts is to break down organic matter in a dead body to its simple form like nitrogen.  This function helps the recycling of the ecology.  However, when there is overgrowth of yeasts in your body, they break you down!

Yeasts are everywhere.  Yeasts are in the air you breathe, in the water you drink, on the furniture you sit on, on the surface of fruits and vegetables (espercailly organic ones), and on the furs of your pets.  Tap water is often contaminated with yeasts nowadays.  After you are used to drinking purified water, you may experience stomachaches when you drink tap water.  Leftover foods that you put in the refrigerator may soon become mildewed after a few days.

The most frightening part of all is that yeasts are hidden in most of the  Standard American Diet (SAD).  Breads, cakes, muffins, bagels, nuts, raw vegetables, surfaces of fruits, soy sauce, and miso soup are loaded with yeasts.  Many vitamins also contain yeasts.  You can hardly escape the invasion of yeasts if you don’t pay special attention to your daily food intake.

Q.        Are yeast and parasitic infections sexually transmittable?   Can males get yeast infections too?  How to treat these infections and how long would it take to heal?

A.        Yeast and parasitic infections are sexually transmitted diseases (STD’s).  Sexual partners can infect each other through the exchange of body fluids such as kissing, oral sex and intercourse.  Therefore, if your sexual partner is treated for yeast and parasitic infections, you also need to be treated.

Most people tend to think only females get yeast infections such as vaginal yeast infection, yellowish discharge, and painful sex.  Be aware, males are also prone to male yeast infections such as genital rash, sticky semen, and prostatitis.  In addition to genital symptoms, both males and females can have symptoms from head to toe including mind fog, chronic fatigue, allergies, bloating, sugar craving, hypoglycemia, fibromyalgia, fungal toe nails, anal itch, etc.

Luckily, yeast and parasitic infections for male or female are treatable.  How long would it take to heal?  It depends on how toxic you are.  Normally, one year of illness takes at least one month to heal, provided that you take the following three basic steps:

1) Follow the yeast free nutritional program closely

2) Take strong herbal formulas to control the overgrowth of yeasts and parasites

3) Learn to manage stress effectively.

To learn what to eat and what to avoid, follow my yeast-free cookbook, Healthy and Tasty: Dr. J’s Anti-Yeast Cooking. Take Yeast-Para Control and Cleansing-Balance Tea to remove excess yeasts and parasites in your body and cleanse your liver and kidneys.  You may also learn some stress management techniques by reading my book: Breaking the Yeast Curse: Food and Unconditional Love for Magic Healing.

Because everybody carries different symptoms, you need to let me know what symptoms you have, so that I can give you specific recommendations.   The remedies described above are basic ones.  I usually customize a program based on each individual’s health condition, budget, and commitment level.

Q.        Is fibromyalgia hereditary?

A.        In my experience, fibromyalgia is not hereditary, it is a learned behavior.  The reason it appears to “run in the family” is because family members tend to share the same or similar dietary habits, outlook on life, and lifestyle.

Symptoms of fibromyalgia include chronic widespread pain in the joints, muscles, tendons, and other soft tissues, accompanied by sleep disturbances, headaches, chronic fatigue, mind fog, depression and anxiety.  In some severe cases, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders and irritable bowel syndrome are also present.

Currently there are no diagnostic tests, such as x-rays or blood tests, to detect fibromyalgia.  The diagnosis of fibromyalgia is based on self reports.  Fibromyalgia affects people of all ages in both females and males, but is most common among women aged 20 to 50.

Based on my more than three decades of clinical experience working with clients with fibromyalgia, I have found that causes of fibromyalgia include yeast and parasitic infections, poor dietary habits, lack of exercise (including sexercise), perception of being un-loved, emotional and/or physical trauma, and stress.

I will discuss how to overcome symptoms of fibromyalgia in the next article, please stay tuned.

In my previous two articles, I stressed that in order to reduce or eradicate the decomposing effects of the fungal spores, you need to clean both the external and internal environments.  In this article, I will focus on controlling the internal environment: Your body.

Fungal spores may enter the body through the air you breathe, the water you drink, the dust on your furniture, the food you eat, the fur from pets, etc.  The function of fungal spores is to decompose (ferment) the medium for food.  When your immune system is strong, you can co-exist with these transparent creatures.  When your immunity is weak, members of the fungal family such as yeasts and candida albicans may “occupy” your body causing you to suffer yeast overgrowth symptoms from head to toe such as headaches, mind fog, fatigue, depression, allergies, arthritis-like aches and pain, skin rash, fungal nails, etc.

The following are essential natural remedies to control yeast overgrowth in your body:

1.    Yeast Free Nutritional Program:

Sugar, dairy, wheat, yeasts, alcohol, caffeine, and nicotine are favorite food for yeasts.  Eliminating this type of food from your diet can starve harmful yeasts and control their overgrowth.  To learn what to eat and what to avoid, follow my yeast-free cookbook, Healthy and Tasty: Dr. J’s Anti-Yeast Cooking.

2.    Herbal Therapy:

When your body suffers from a chronic case of yeast overgrowth (or candidiasis), you need strong herbal formulas to “clean house”.  Our Yeast-Para Control formula is designed to remove excess yeasts and parasites simultaneously since they go hand in hand like Siamese Twins.  Cleansing-Balance Tea is designed to flush the debris that Yeast-Para Control creates, and cleanse the liver and kidneys.  Yeast-Para Control and Cleansing-Balance Tea form a strong herbal detox program to treat and prevent yeast overgrowth.

If symptoms of fatigue, mind fog, depression, and loss of sexual interest are present, Female Vitality or Male Vitality is essential to fight them.  Herbal Cocktail, a high-protein drink, is very beneficial to balance the weight problems (either over-weight or under-weight) due to yeast overgrowth.  It is also very effective in stopping sugar cravings.

3.    Physical exercise:

Since fungal spores thrive in still environments, you need to exercise daily to improve your blood circulation and energy flow and not to give them a chance to grow in your body.  I know the last thing you want to do is exercise when you feel fatigued.  Motivate yourself to start with some low-impact exercise such as slow walking or in-place jogging.  You may start with 10 minutes, and then gradually increase to 30 minutes, to an hour.

4.    Mental exercise

Stress is the main cause to lower your immunity and weaken your body’s defense.  Stress is a part of life.  You simply need to learn how to effectively manage stress.  In my book, Breaking the Yeast Curse: Food and Unconditional Love for Magic Healing, there are many techniques such as releasing negative emotions, 10-minute meditation, writing letters in a proper format to finish “unfinished” business, prayers, affirmations, etc.  Practice these techniques daily, and make stress become a motivating factor for you to move forward!

As I addressed in the previous article: Facts on Fungus, fungal spores decompose live bodies, just as they do with dead bodies.  Therefore, you can suffer symptoms from head to toe such as arthritis-like aches and pain, fungal nails, athlete’s foot, eczema, headaches, sinus congestion, strep throat, allergies, mind fog, depression, fatigue, etc. when the fungal spores settle on your body as a medium for food.

In order to reduce or eradicate the decomposing effects of the fungal spores, you need to clean both external and internal environments.  In this article, I will focus on the control of the external environment.

As mentioned previously, because the fungal spores are air-born, they are everywhere: in the air we breathe, the water we drink, dust on furniture, produce, fruits, your pets’ fur, etc.  Moisture, warm temperature, still air, lack of sunlight, etc., are incubators for their growth.  The following are some tips to control the external environmental factors for yeasts and/or mold:

  1. Keep your home clean and dry, especially kitchen and bathrooms.  Keep the doors of these areas open and/or use vents for air ventilation.
  2. Check under the kitchen sink periodically for leaks and moisture.  Repair the leaks immediately and wipe the area dry.
  3. Do not refrigerate left-over foods for more than three days, otherwise they mildew.  Even though you may not see any changes on the outside, the chemistry inside the food has been changed because of the fermentation process.  The fungal spores do not grow well under freezing temperature; therefore, you may put foods in the freezer provided that your freezer is functioning well.
  4. Peel the skin of produce and fruit if possible; otherwise, soak them in salt water for at least 10 minutes, and then rinse them thoroughly under running water.
  5. Vacuum the carpet or wipe clean the hardwood floor at least once a week to prevent dust build-up.
  6. Wipe clean your furniture frequently to prevent dust built-up.
  7. Do not eat any mildewed food that would include bread, fruits, cooked or raw produce, etc.
  8. Avoid fermented food such as pickles.
  9. Shower every day and shampoo your hair at least every other day to wash off fungal spores that might have fallen on the surface of your body.  Blow dry your hair right after washing.  Do not go to bed with wet hair.
  10. Do not kiss your pets.  Their saliva may carry yeasts and parasites.
  11. Do not sleep with your pets.  No matter how clean they appear to be, their fur may carry fungal spores.

In the next article, I will discuss how to control your internal environmental factors to avoid yeast overgrowth.  Stay tuned.

I suffered from candidiasis for years.  I was underweight, lethargic, bloated and prone to kidney and bladder infections.  I also had skin rash all over my body.

After taking Yeast-Para Control, Cleansing-Balance Tea, Herbal Cocktail, and Female Vitality and following Dr. J’s yeast-free nutritional program, I gained 7 pounds in two months.  My skin is now clearing up.  I rarely feel bloated unless I eat the wrong kind of food (yeast favorite food) again. I haven’t had any episode of kidney or bladder infections since I started the program.  I now have a lot more energy!

I also learned how to handle my stress better when I follow the instructions in her book, Breaking the Yeast Curse: Food and Unconditional Love for Magic Healing.  I exercise more and rest more.

I still see seeds-like and spaghetti-like stuff in my stool although less than before. Dr. J told me that they were eggs of parasites and mature worms.  I am not out of woods yet, but I feel a lot better!  Basically I had an “overhaul” change of my lifestyle.  I love my new life!
