In the past few weeks I posted information regarding detrimental effects certain foods will have on your health.  In my yeast-free cookbook, Healthy and Tasty: Dr. J’s Anti-Yeast Cooking, I provide details about Dr. J’s Eight Commandments:

  1. no sugar
  2. no dairy
  3. no wheat
  4. no yeasts
  5. no caffeine
  6. no alcohol
  7. no nicotine
  8. no chemicals

If you follow these Eight Commandments, you actually have a very healthy Weight Loss Meal Plan.

Why do I call it a Weight Loss Meal Plan?  Because when you follow this meal plan, automatically, your bloating will dissipate and your tummy will flatten.  Moreover, because you nourish your body and starve the yeasts and parasites, your thyroid gland gets a chance to heal and restore its function.  When your metabolism is improved, naturally your excess weight will come off.

To learn what to eat and what to avoid, follow my yeast-free cookbook, Healthy and Tasty: Dr. J’s Anti-Yeast Cooking.

Q.        Are yeast and parasitic infections sexually transmittable?   Can males get yeast infections too?  How to treat these infections and how long would it take to heal?

A.        Yeast and parasitic infections are sexually transmitted diseases (STD’s).  Sexual partners can infect each other through the exchange of body fluids such as kissing, oral sex and intercourse.  Therefore, if your sexual partner is treated for yeast and parasitic infections, you also need to be treated.

Most people tend to think only females get yeast infections such as vaginal yeast infection, yellowish discharge, and painful sex.  Be aware, males are also prone to male yeast infections such as genital rash, sticky semen, and prostatitis.  In addition to genital symptoms, both males and females can have symptoms from head to toe including mind fog, chronic fatigue, allergies, bloating, sugar craving, hypoglycemia, fibromyalgia, fungal toe nails, anal itch, etc.

Luckily, yeast and parasitic infections for male or female are treatable.  How long would it take to heal?  It depends on how toxic you are.  Normally, one year of illness takes at least one month to heal, provided that you take the following three basic steps:

1) Follow the yeast free nutritional program closely

2) Take strong herbal formulas to control the overgrowth of yeasts and parasites

3) Learn to manage stress effectively.

To learn what to eat and what to avoid, follow my yeast-free cookbook, Healthy and Tasty: Dr. J’s Anti-Yeast Cooking. Take Yeast-Para Control and Cleansing-Balance Tea to remove excess yeasts and parasites in your body and cleanse your liver and kidneys.  You may also learn some stress management techniques by reading my book: Breaking the Yeast Curse: Food and Unconditional Love for Magic Healing.

Because everybody carries different symptoms, you need to let me know what symptoms you have, so that I can give you specific recommendations.   The remedies described above are basic ones.  I usually customize a program based on each individual’s health condition, budget, and commitment level.

Q.        I have severe PMS (Pre-Menstrual Syndrome).  I experience bloating, sugar craving, mood swings and extreme fatigue before the period, and bad cramps during the period.   Why?  I don’t want to rely on diuretics and pain pills.  What is your suggestion for drug-free remedies?

A.        About seven to ten days before your period, your estrogen and blood volume increases.  This is why you experience mood swings, bloating, and water retention.  When your blood volume increases, your blood sugar level also elevates.  The elevated blood sugar feeds the yeasts and parasites in your body.  When your little enemies are well-fed, they thrive and want more.  They scream “Feed me!  Feed me!”  Oftentimes people would continue feeding them with simple carbohydrates (refined sugar such as chocolate).  A vicious cycle ensues.  When yeasts and parasites begin to eat you alive, you will experience extreme fatigue and cramps.

Diuretics (water pills) and pain pills only provide you with temporary relief.  What you need is an “overhaul” of your life style:

1) Dietary Change to nourish your body and not feed yeasts and parasites

2) Herbal Therapy to detox and balance your hormones

3) Regular Exercise to improve your blood circulation

4) Stress Management to reduce mood swings

5) Sexercise to facilitate your energy flow and increase your self-esteem.

In the next article, I will give you more details.  Stay tuned!

Q.        Can I lose weight on Dr. J’s Detox program?

A.        Definitely!  A client just told me that she has lost 55 pounds on our detox program in about 4 months.  That’s about three pounds per week.  This is a healthy pace for weight loss.  How did she do it?  She incorporated a holistic approach and had an “overhaul” of her life style:

1.  Yeast-Free Nutritional Program

She studied my book Breaking the Yeast Curse: Food and Unconditional Love for Magic Healing thoroughly.  She often could cite what I wrote in the book despite her mind fog in the beginning of the holistic treatment.

She followed the cooking principles diligently in my yeast-free cookbook: Healthy and Tasty: Dr. J’s Anti-Yeast Cooking.  Because of her severe food allergies, she carefully follows the recipes.  She now gradually increases the types of food she can eat without feeling bloated.

2.  Herbal Therapy

She was on Herbal Detox (Yeast-Para Control and Cleansing-Balance Tea), Hormonal Regeneration(Female Vitality), and Weight Management (Herbal Cocktail— a partial weight control program).  Her original purpose was to rid herself of yeast infection symptoms including chronic fatigue, mind fog, body aches, bloating, sugar craving, food allergies, Leaky Gut Syndrome, vaginal yeast infection and anal itch.  Because she had to watch her budget, she was not placed on the full weight management program.  After four months of detoxification, she gradually reduced or eliminated the yeast infection symptoms.  She also lost 55 pounds unexpectedly and was delighted to lose that toxic weight!

3.  Removing mental toxins

During the treatment course, in addition to dietary habit change and herbal therapy, she also received three sessions of telephone consultation with me to remove her mental toxins.  In the process of “mental detox” she learned to forgive her ex-husband, as well as accept and enjoy her current life situation.  In other words, she had come to terms with her divorce which had been weighing on her for the past 10 years.

4.  Regular exercise:

Because of her Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, I guided her to start with 10 minutes of slow walking around the block.  Now she has gradually built up to 30 minutes a day.

Because of both physical and mental detox, she was able to shed 55 pounds effortlessly.  This is just one of many examples among my clients.  You, too, can lose the toxic weight when you are committed to a healthy lifestyle and outlook on life!

I had yeast and parasitic infection symptoms from head to toe for years.  I had consulted at least 50 other doctors without results and end up being on medical disability.

After following Dr. J’s yeast-free nutritional program, and taking the Herbal Detox (Yeast-Para Control and Cleansing-Balance Tea), Herbal Cocktail and Female Vitality for three months,  my symptoms of allergies, sinus headaches, Irritated Bowel Syndrome, PMS, bloating, sugar craving and depression had all dissipated.

I am now staying on the maintenance program for prevention.  I have learned to eat to feed my body and starve the little enemies: yeasts and parasites.  I also learned to change the outlook on my life and manage stress more effectively.  I feel like a new person!  I highly recommend Dr. J’s program!

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) is an illness characterized by a cluster of symptoms including persistent, recurrent fatigue, headaches, achy muscles, poor digestive function (such as constipation, diarrhea, and bloatedness), low-grade fever, foggy mind, confusion, irritability, lack of motivation and depression.

Both men and women can be affected by Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.  In my practice, however, I have observed that most of the clients are women between the ages of 20 and 50.  The personality characteristics of people with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome are highly successful, educated, articulate, and always on the go.  Prior to the onset of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, they were very active with their career activities, and/or were caretakers.

After several years of highly charged activities, they “ran out of gas” and collapsed.  These people tended to give, give, give, but did not receive the nurturing which was essential to replenish their reservoir.  The “Too Pooped to Pop” feelings are very real to the sufferers.  However, most western-trained physicians did not take them seriously.  Some were referred to psychiatrists by their physicians for psychotropic drugs with the reasoning that it was all in their heads!  This, of course, makes the matter worse!

People with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome have often suffered for many years without a proper diagnosis and treatment.  Prior to starting our holistic treatment program, many of my clients had to be on medical disability because they could not carry out regular daily functions which were routine for them before.  In some severe cases, daily chores such as brushing teeth or cooking dinner can be taxing for the sufferer.

Basically, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome shares similar symptoms with mono-nucleosis, Epstein-Barr virus, candidiasis, Crohn’s disease, as well as yeast and parasitic infections.

Causes of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome:

As mentioned earlier, people with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome tend to be high achievers and devoting caretakers.  The major causes for their collapse include: “Busy-Taking-Care-of-Others Syndrome”, poor dietary habits, and yeast and parasitic infections.

Busy-Taking-Care-of-Others Syndrome:

Many people, especially women, have assumed a caretaking role.  They play their roles so well that they often forget about themselves.  They are so busy taking care of other people’s needs that they don’t have time to take care of their own needs.  Connie is a good example:

As a nurse, Connie had been a hard worker in hospitals for more than 10 years.  She had been very active in volunteer activities such as the Red Cross or other charity groups.  Her mother died of breast cancer when she was five years old.  Being the only child, she had been a caretaker for her frail father since she was a teen.

Since she was always on the run, she was on the convenient Standard American Diet (SAD) even though she was familiar with what was right for her to eat.  The onset of fatigue, headaches, poor mental concentration, weight loss, lack of motivation and depression came slowly in a period of three to six months.  Then, she totally collapsed and became bedridden when her boyfriend broke up with her.

Poor Dietary Habits:

People who are busy taking care of others usually suffer from low self-esteem.  When they don’t think much of themselves, naturally they don’t take good care of themselves.  Everybody comes first; they come last.  This tendency is also reflected in their dietary habits.  Even though Connie was a consulting nutritionist for an outpatient clinic, she did not practice what she preached.  Her diet was filled with sugar, dairy, wheat, yeast, alcohol, caffeine and chemicals.  Despite the fact she knew she was “allergic” to those kinds of foods, she could not take the time to go to health food stores to shop for the right kinds of foods.

Yeast and Parasitic Infections:

As explained in great details in my book, Breaking the Yeast Curse: Food and Unconditional Love for Magic Healing, many factors contribute to yeast and parasitic infections.  Poor dietary habits and chronic psychological stress are two main causes among others.  Yeasts and parasites have strong hooks that can suck nutrition from the intestines.  After they are well fed, they deposit toxins.  As a result, a cluster of symptoms including chronic fatigue, allergies, digestive problems, etc. will weaken the immune system and create a vicious circle.

The holistic treatment for Chronic Fatigue Syndrom will be discussed in the next article.  Stayed tuned!

Q.      My granddaughter has ADHD. She has been given tons of medication by “traditional” doctors. My belief is and will always be that natural products are the best. I just wonder how much longer she will be on “drugs.”

A.       Usually children with ADD or ADHD continue to be on Ritalin or other stimulants into their adult life.  The majority of parents choose to medicate (or overmedicate rather) their children to make everyone’s lives easier.  Little do they know that the side effects of Ritalin or other stimulants continue to haunt these children even into adulthood.

Some of the common side effects I have observed include nervousness, agitation, sleep disorder, fatigue, arthritis-like aches and pains, excessive mucous, bloating, etc.

There are natural remedies for ADD or ADHD.  Unfortunately, most parents and treating physicians go for the “quick” or “easy fix” at the expense of the future of these children.  A quick fix can actually turn into a long-term nightmare.

To get long-lasting results, parents have to be willing to use a drug-free, holistic approach to treating their children’s ADD or ADHD.  As a grandparent, perhaps you can suggest incorporating herbal remedies into the treatment regimen and slowly wean your granddaughter from the drugs.  Also, by any means, have your granddaughter avoid refined sugar in her diet.  I have found that children will actually follow the regimen when their parents cooperate.  The decision is in the hands of the parents, not the treating doctors.

Perhaps you can introduce your daughter and /or son-in-law to this fan page so that they would have a chance to learn more about drug-free, holistic alternatives to treating your granddaughter’s ADHD.

Q.        I have been a vegan for years.  How come I cannot lose weight?

A.         A Vegan diet basically contains no animal products including cow milk, goat milk or milk products such as ice cream, butter, cheese, yogurt, etc.  However, I have observed that most vegans consume a liberal amount of sugar, wheat, yeasts, caffeine and chemicals.  Remember “Dr. J’s Eight Commandments” in my yeast-free nutritional program?  To avoid feeding yeasts and parasites in your body, it’s best to avoid sugar, dairy, wheat, yeasts, alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, and chemicals.  It’s good that vegans do not consume dairy, but they do consume other yeast-favorite food.  The end result could be bloating, a weak thyroid, and sluggish metabolism which are not conducive to weight loss.

The same phenomenon happens to vegetarians whether or not they have cow milk or milk products in their diet.  The best nutritional program for weight loss is a yeast-free diet, not vegan or vegetarian diet.

To learn about what to eat and what to avoid, follow my yeast-free cookbook, Healthy and Tasty: Dr. J’s Anti-Yeast Cooking.  Once you are familiar with the yeast-free cooking principles, you can create your own recipes.

Menopause is when you have not had a period (or even light spotting) for 12 consecutive months. The menopausal symptoms experienced by most women actually occur during pre- or peri-menopause period.

During the peri-menopause stage, three key hormones such estrogen, testosterone, and progesterone fluctuate, and mostly are on the decline.  Consequently, you may experience various symptoms.  The most common ones are hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, irritability, insomnia, irregular periods, loss of libido, painful intercourse, difficulty concentrating, itchy skin, headaches, bloating, gastro-intestinal disturbances (such as gas), weight gain, hair loss or thinning, light-headedness, depression and anxiety.

As your estrogen levels decline during pre-menopause,your vagina wall will become thinner and weaker. Consequently, it can be easily irritated during intercourse and leave tiny scars or cuts where bacteria and yeasts can flourish.  So, vaginal yeast infections become common symptoms associated with menopause.

Treatment basically consists of regulating the hormonal levels.  Female Vitality is excellent for that purpose.  Female Vitality contains more than 20 ingredients of high quality Chinese herbs such as Ho-Shou-Wu, black cohosh, wild yam, etc. and absorbable vitamins needed for health promotion and maintenance.  The end results:  improved conditions for your hair, nail and skin, increased mental clarity, uplifted mood, productivity and sexual energy.

Based on my more than 30 years of clinical experience, I have found that women who do not have a healthy lifestyle tend to suffer more menopausal symptoms.  For example, when sugar consumption is high, episodes of hot flashes also increase. Therefore, it’s important to follow a yeast-free nutritional program that contains no sugar, dairy, wheat, yeasts, alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, and chemicals.  It comes to a conscious decision between following the yeast-free nutritional program, or suffering from various menopausal symptoms.  If you would like to find out more about what you should eat (and what to avoid), follow the recipes in my yeast-free cookbook, Healthy and Tasty: Dr. J’s Anti-Yeast Cooking.

If you have excess toxins in your body which acerbate the menopausal symptoms, consider our Herbal Detox program (consisting of Yeast-Para Control and Cleansing-Balance Tea) to remove the toxins.

Lifestyle changes are also important for promoting a healthy menopausal process. These include regular exercise, becoming a non-smoker, and getting physically and mentally fit.  To promote your mental health, I encourage you to follow the guidelines in my book, Breaking the Yeast Curse: Food and Unconditional Love for Magic Healing

The symptoms of menopause usually last for the whole menopause transition (until the mid 50s), but some women may experience them for the rest of their lives.  Therefore, it’s important to adopt a holistic approach to eradicate or prevent menopausal symptoms.

In Part 1 of this article, I addressed three natural remedies for Pre-Menstrual Syndrome (PMS), including yeast-free nutrition, herbal detox, and hormonal regeneration.  A yeast-free nutritional approach will prevent allergens such as simple sugars, dairy, wheat, and yeasts from entering the body.  In the pre-menstrual period, I recommended to increase the intake of complex carbohydrates and crucifers such as broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, and brussel sprouts.  This type of food will help reduce the amount of hormones such as prostaglandin, estrogen, progesterone and prolactin, and thus reduce water retention, bloating, weight gain, and mood swings.

If you want to learn more about what you can eat and what you should avoid, follow my yeast-free cookbook: Healthy and Tasty: Dr. J’s Anti-Yeast Cooking.   Secondly, go on our Herbal Detox (consisting of Yeast-Para Control and Cleansing-Balance Tea ) and hormonal regeneration product with Female Vitality.  Our Herbal Detox program removes excess yeasts and parasites, thus cleaning up existing toxins.  Female Vitality balances the female hormonal system and allows the female hormones to work for you instead of against you.

The following are additional natural remedies for PMS:

1)    Exercise:

Exercise is particularly helpful with PMS because it generates endorphins, a morphine from within.  Endorphin is an opium-like, natural substance which reduces pain and gives a calm, high feeling (without the use of drugs)!  Again, don’t wait until you are in the middle of PMS to exercise.  Do 30 minutes of slow walking every day.  This type of exercise will improve your blood circulation and thus reduce the tendency of water retention and muscle aches.  The heavy feeling and cramps in your pelvic area can also be reduced or eliminated.  Regular exercise can also strengthen the muscle tone in your lower abdomen and thus increase the tolerance for pain or discomfort.  A side benefit is that it also helps you become a better lover when you have tight, instead of loose, muscles.  And remember, slow walking is free of charge!

 2)    Hands-On Healing:

Hands-on healing techniques such as therapeutic touch and gentle chiropractic adjustment known as cranio-sacral technique can be very soothing during the onset of PMS.   If you feel too uncomfortable to have anyone touch you while experiencing severe cramps, just put your hand(s) on the area that is cramping, such as the lower abdomen or hip areas.  The healing energy in your own hands can reduce the cramps and give some relief to pain.   You can do this while lying down or sitting up, such as while driving.

 3)    Stress Management:

Women who are under heavy emotional stress often suffer from more PMS.  Your body and mind affect each other at all times.  Emotional stress can cause many kinds of physical problems including PMS.  Remember, all physical illnesses have symbolic meanings.  PMS involves the female reproductive system. It requires the examination of emotional issues concerning one’s femininity.  A woman with a positive self-image usually takes good care of herself and does not give PMS a chance to creep in or sustain itself.

 4)    Sexercise:

The Chinese have long believed that if a young woman has PMS, she will grow out of it after she is married.  Why?  Sexercise!

Sex is the best remedy for PMS.  Good sex increases self-esteem and improves blood circulation.  When you enjoy good quality and quantity of sex with the right partner, you feel loved and energized.

Women who suffer from PMS or menopause usually are sexually inactive whether they are married or not.  Sexual desire and potency do not have to decline with age.  Some of my clients enjoy frequent sex (at least three or four times a week) in their 80s!  You are never too old or too tired for sex!  Remember two principles: 1) you either use it or lose it; and 2) practice makes perfect!   When you learn to enjoy sex on a regular basis, you will learn to enjoy being a female.  Also remember, Female Vitality can help improve sexual function.  When you enjoy being a female or being who you are, chances are you will say goodbye to PMS!
