Q.  There is a lot of conflicting information on the Internet regarding Candida Cleansing Diet, what is your opinion on this?

A.  Indeed, it’s like a jungle out there in terms of information regarding the candida cleansing diet.   Oftentimes you are confused about what you can eat and what you should avoid when you try to heal yourself from candidiasis, or yeast and parasitic infections.

First of all, you need to understand that candida is a member of the yeast family.  Candida alone has 40 to 50 strains that are harmful to your health.  When yeasts are present, parasites also thrive.  I call them Siamese Twins.  Therefore, I would refer to yeast and parasite cleanse in this Q&A.

Also, the word “diet” seems to denote the meaning of being “limited” and “short term.”  Therefore, I prefer to call it an “Anti-Yeast Nutritional Program” because you can follow the nutritional principles for life to maintain optimal health.  The anti-yeast nutritional program I recommend contains no sugar, no dairy, no wheat, no yeast, no caffeine, no alcohol, no nicotine, nor chemicals.   I developed these “Eight Commandments” after I conquered a severe case of yeast and parasitic infection, and remained symptom-free for several decades.

In my yeast-free cookbook, Healthy and Tasty: Dr. J’s Anti-Yeast Cooking, you will find anti-yeast nutritional principles and recipes that nourish your body, but starve the yeasts and parasites.  The “Eight Commandments” detailed in my anti-yeast cookbook have stood the test of time.  My many clients and myself have been able to get well and stay well because of these anti-yeast nutritional principles.

When your immune system is strong, you can re-introduce food items that are on the no-no list if you go for moderation.   Occasionally, when I indulged on the no-no foods, I had to accept the consequences for it.  For example, if I had a small slice of ultra-sweet fruits such as watermelon, my body can handle it.  However, when I had a bigger slice, I would suffer from sugar headaches for a few days.  It becomes a matter of choice of what consequences you would accept when you deviate from my anti-yeast nutritional principles.

Also, please be aware that diet alone will not cure you when you suffer from chronic yeast and parasitic infections.  You do need to consider herbal therapy to eliminate excess yeasts and parasites quickly so that your body’s innate intelligence can be activated and healing can take place.  I formulated Yeast-Para Control to remove yeasts and parasites simultaneously.  Because yeasts and parasites go hand in hand, if you only treat yeast or only treat parasitic infection, sooner or later, both yeasts and parasites will come back together to “haunt” you.

Q.         Why are some people more prone to candidiasis (yeast infections) than others?

A.         This is a good question!  Sometimes you feel “it’s not fair” that others are eating sugar, dairy, wheat, yeasts, and other yeast-favorite food, and yet they don’t have candidiasis.  On the contrary, you have to watch everything you eat, and yet, you still suffer from the symptoms of yeast and parasitic infections.

The answer is actually very simple.  The stress level everybody perceived in life determines your susceptibility to yeast and parasitic infections.  As I detailed in my book: Breaking the Yeast Curse: Food and Unconditional Love for Magic Healing, “so far as physical health is concerned, yeast and parasitic infections are the roots of all evil; and psychological stress is the core of these roots!”  Stress suppresses your immunity.  When your immunity is compromised, all kinds of microbial organisms such as yeasts, parasites, bacteria, and viruses can act up and create symptoms from head to toe.

Q.        I am 52 years old.  I did not have period for about a year.  All of a sudden, I had a good amount of period last month, then it stopped.  I am glad it did.  However, my menopausal symptoms had increased.  They include hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, loss of sexual drive, weight gain, depression and extreme fatigue.  How much longer would I suffer from these symptoms?  Can you recommend holistic treatment for them?

In the previous two articles, I pointed out that yeast and parasitic infections are a global epidemic.  I also highlighted the major symptoms and causes.  To get more detailed information, you can review my book, Breaking the Yeast Curse: Food and Unconditional Love for Magic Healing.

In this article, I will address natural, drug-free treatment for yeast and parasitic infections based on my more than 30 years of clinical experience working with people from all walks of life:

1)    Anti-Yeast Nutrition:

For starters, adopt an Anti-Yeast Nutritional program for life.  This nutritional program contains no sugar, no dairy, no wheat, no yeasts, no alcohol, no caffeine, no nicotine, nor chemicals.  My clients call it “Dr. J’s Eight Commandments.”  Examples of great recipes for this program can be found in my cookbook: Healthy and Tasty: Dr. J’s Anti-Yeast Cooking.  This program is designed to starve the yeasts and parasites, nourish your body with good nutrients, and prevent new toxins from being created and built up in your body.

2)    Herbal Therapy to Remove Excess Yeasts And Parasites:

4)    Exercise to Prevent Yeast and Parasitic Infections:

As stated in the previous article, yeasts and parasites love a still environment.  That’s why you might have symptoms such as sleep disorders, sinus congestion, snoring, or sleep apnea at night when you are relatively immobile.  People in the wheel chairs also have a tendency to develop urinary tract infections (UTI) caused by the overgrowth of yeasts.  If you are too tired to exercise, just start with a few minutes of slow walking or in-place jogging and gradually build up.  If you are in the wheel chair, you can also do “chair dancing” to improve your blood circulation and prevent the overgrowth of yeasts and parasites.

5)    Change Environments:

As explained before, yeasts and parasites are everywhere.   A damp environment such as woodlands and seaside dwellings, or a dusty environment such as construction sites all provide an incubator for yeasts and parasites to overgrow.  If you are exposed to yeasty or dusty environments, you are prone to having flare ups of yeast and parasitic infections.  Move to an environment which may be more suitable to improving your health.  If that is not possible, just take my Herbal Detox program (Yeast-Para Control and Cleansing-Balance Tea) routinely to remove excess yeasts and parasites.

6)    Overuse of Antibiotics or Potent Drugs:

As described in my book, Breaking the Yeast Curse: Food and Unconditional Love for Magic Healing, antibiotics or potent drugs may provide you with temporary relief.   However, the “good guys” such as bacteria floras in the intestines take a long time to re-establish, while the “bad guys” such as harmful yeasts take no time to comeback since they are air-borne and everywhere!  Thus, yeast overgrowth quickly occurs.  Worst of all, yeasts and parasites are like Siamese Twins.  They come hand in hand.  They both can create symptoms for you from head to toe.  My suggestion is avoiding antibiotics or potent drugs whenever possible.  Call me or consult with your holistic health care provider for alternatives before you take any antibiotics or potent drugs.

7)    Prevent Traveler’s Disease:

If you travel to an unfamiliar environment, I would suggest that you only drink a familiar brand of bottled water and eat food prepared by clean, prestigious hotels.  Avoid raw vegetables (salads).  Wash the fruits thoroughly and peel the skin before eating them.  Although there is no guarantee, take every precaution possible to prevent yeast and parasitic infections.
