The real problem Americans face is consuming too many simple carbohydrates.  An average American eats 120 pounds of refined sugar per year.   Sugar is everywhere – in bread, pies, cookies, candies, salad dressings, ketchup, etc.  As I’ve indicated repeatedly in previous articles, sugar feeds the yeasts and parasites in your body and facilitates fermentation.  That’s why your stomach feels bloated, your sinuses are congested, and your mind is foggy after consuming refined sugar.

What is the difference between simple and complex carbohydrates?   Simple carbohydrates such as refined sugar in cookies, candies, ice cream, etc. contain “empty calories.”  Empty calories burn and dissipate quickly.  That’s why you get hungry easily even after you’ve had a meal high in empty calories.   Foods that contain complex carbohydrates include whole grains, fruits, and vegetables.  In order for your body to utilize calories generated by complex carbohydrates, foods have to be properly digested.  The digestion and absorption process of complex carbohydrates is slower than that for simple carbohydrates.  That’s why you don’t get hungry easily or crave more foods when you ingest foods containing complex carbohydrates.

What should you do then to maintain a well-balanced diet and not get lost in the diet jungle?  Follow Dr. J’s yeast-free nutritional program!  My clients call the program “Dr. J’s Eight Commandments.”  These Eight Commandments include no refined sugar, no dairy, no wheat, no yeasts, no alcohol, no caffeine, no nicotine, and no chemicals.  All of the above are favorite foods for yeasts and parasites in your body.  When you indulge in the above items, your enemies — yeasts and parasites — will have a rock ‘n roll party in your body!

Some people may not be able to fully commit to Dr. J’s Eight Commandments 100%.  However, if you follow them 50%, you will get 50% of the benefits; if you follow them 75%, you will get 75% of the benefits; and this is better than 0%.  Don’t let the excuse of “either-or” stop you from making an effort.  I have seen people waiting for the “perfect time” such as after the holidays or special occasions.  However, the perfect time would never come and they are still suffering from yeast disorder symptoms (including weight problems) year in and year out.

Once you follow my yeast-free nutritional program, you will enjoy physical and mental fitness on a consistent basis.  This yeast-free nutritional program has stood the test of many decades for thousands of my clients, including myself.  Personally I have lost 50 pounds and kept it off by practicing what I preach.  This life-long dietary habit will also save you 30 to 50% on grocery bills as reported by my clients!

If you wish to learn what you should eat and what you should avoid, go to your local public library to read my books, Breaking the Yeast Curse: Food and Unconditional Love for Magic Healing, and Healthy and Tasty: Dr. J’s Anti-Yeast Cooking.  You may also call our office at 1-800-715-3053 or 818-472-2213 to order hard copies or order e-books online: www.drjsbest.com.  The guidelines provided in these two books are life long guidelines, not just when you want to lose weight or get rid of yeast and parasitic infections.  Once you make a commitment to a healthy lifestyle, you won’t need any fad diets to boost the result!

Do you feel that you are lost in a jungle of diets?  If so, read on.  This article will help you cut through the jungle!

In the 1990s, the low-fat diet swept America and the rest of the world.  Low-fat diet followers watched their fat intake very carefully, and yet allowed their carbohydrate intake to go through the roof.  For example, they piled up their plates with pasta or ate a whole bag of low-fat cookies.  As a result, they gained weight and felt bloated.  In addition, low-fat entrees or snacks often tasted like “garbage” (as many of my clients have described them).  Then came the birth of the “low-carb” diet.

What is a low-carb diet?  Normally 45 to 65 percent of one’s daily calories come from carbohydrates.  Eating less than 40 percent would be considered eating low carb.  Many people swear by the Atkins diet (high-fat, high-protein, and low-carb) for losing weight.  However, one study published in the New England Journal of Medicine found that people on a low-carb diet did lose more weight in the first six months, but by the end of one year, people on low-fat diets performed about the same as those on the low-carb diet.

Some of my clients were on low-carb, high-fat, and high-protein diets for a while prior to coming to my office.  Initially, they enjoyed the results of weight loss.  However, pretty soon they developed ketosis and had to be hospitalized.  What is ketosis?  Ketosis is the presence of relatively large amounts of acetone or acetone bodies in the blood.  This occurs when there is incomplete oxidation of large amounts of fat, as in diabetic acidosis or starvation.  To use plain language, severe ketosis can lead to coma or death!

I hope it is clear to you that singling out any nutrient for the purpose of losing weight is dangerous.  A well-balanced diet will help you go a long way.  What then is a balanced diet?  According to the American Heart Association, a diet that contains approximately 40 % complex carbohydrates, 20 % protein, and 20 % fat is a balanced diet.

In the next article, I will further discuss best diets.  Stay tuned!

In order to control your weight permanently, you need to nourish your body, mind, and spirit on a consistent basis.  In the previous articles,  I discussed strategies to nourish your body.  To summarize, it’s important to follow a yeast-free nutritional program so your body will not suffer new assaults.  It’s also important to use Herbal Cocktail to curb your appetitite, stop sugar craving, nourish your body, and starve yeasts and parasites.  In addition, you can faciliate weight loss the safe and healthy way by using Fitness Regular as a fat blocker, and Fitness Plus as a fat burner.

The following strategies will help you effectively manage your stress, nourish your mind, and balance your spirit:

Manage Your Stress Effectively:

Psychological stress, if managed properly, can be motivating and beneficial.  The first step is to accept instead of resist stress.  Accept the fact that you are being challenged.  Be cognizant of the fact that Life is like school: before you can obtain a diploma or degree, you must be willing and able to do your homework and pass a series of tests, whether pleasant or unpleasant.  The good news is that even if you fail, the universe will provide you with unlimited opportunities to go through the tests again and again until you pass them!  Therefore, your clock is not ticking.  Time is irrelevant!

Follow the Emotional Releasing Technique instructions in Chapter 11 of Breaking the Yeast Curse: Food and Unconditional Love for Magic Healing, to release your psychological toxins and allow yourself to move on with your life with a clean slate.    Some self-administered techniques such as self-hypnosis, meditation, prayers and affirmations can also be helpful in reducing stress physically and psychologically.  If psychological stress becomes paralyzing, then you should seek competent professional help.

Restore Spiritual Balance:

Spiritually speaking, all of us chose our destiny when we were born into this life.  No matter what kind of life situation we are in, we are given an opportunity to prove that we have the strength, tenacity, wisdom and faith to overcome obstacles and excel.

The only way to get out of the rut of a dysfunctional life situation is to exercise your unconditional love and wisdom.

Use the principles described in Chapter 11 of Breaking the Yeast Curse: Food and Unconditional Love for Magic Healingto understand, accept, forgive and release.  Once you can release the negative emotions toward those who have done you wrong, you can release the negative past that has been haunting you.  When you no longer carry the old baggage, you no longer carry the excess weight!  Love and respect yourself as the most unique, creative and miraculous person in the world.  If you cannot accomplish this on your own, seeking help from a spiritually-oriented, well-grounded therapist can be fruitful.

Exercise Daily:

One last thing I want to stress is the importance of exercising daily.  It’s clear that exercise improves your blood circulation, brings more oxygen to your body cells, burns calories, and generate endorphins.  Endorphins are natural hormones, and can be considered as morphine from within.  Morphine is a pain killer.  If you experience stiffness or arthritic pain, exercise will reduce or eliminate the aches and pains.   From a psychological perspective, endorphins also gives you calm, high feelings.  Because these feelings don’t last, you need to exercise daily to generate new supplies of endorphins.

You might say, “I don’t have membership to a gym!”  You can exercise without a gym. Slow walking in your neighborhood or park for 30 minutes a day is a good way to exercise.  Or, you may jog in place for 10 minutes a day to start.  Where there is a will, there is a way!

Your weight and health problems did not occur overnight.  Naturally, becoming trim and getting well takes time.  Only your understanding of the illness and wellness process, commitment and patience will bring you positive and permanent results!

In order to correct weight problems, you need to learn to nourish your body and mind on a regular basis.  Staying trim is a lifelong project.  No crash diets, injections, medications, or surgeries can achieve this purpose.  The following natural remedies have been time-tested by many of my clients as the most cost-effective for healthy and safe weight loss:

Yeast-Free Nutritional Program:

The first step is to wean yourself from foods containing sugar, dairy, wheat, yeast, alcohol, caffeine, nicotine and chemicals.  Stop ingesting poisonous or allergy-inducing foods into your body.  Give your thyroid a chance to rest and regenerate.  Allow your body to avoid the assault of wrong foods, and instead be nourished by nutrients from the right kind of foods.  If you would like to learn more about what to eat and what to avoid, follow the recipes in my yeast-free cookbook, Healthy and Tasty: Dr. J’s Anti-Yeast Cooking.

Chinese Herbal Therapy:

For those of you who have a long history of being overweight, you need to consider herbal formulas specifically designed for weight control as an additional measure.  A yeast-free nutritional program gives your body a new start; while an herbal program removes the existing toxins in your body and revitalizes your sluggish metabolism.  A well-formulated herbal program for weight loss should have the following three functions:

1.  Control Your Appetite:

Most Americans overeat.  When I travelled in Europe, I noticed that my American friends were often surprised by the relatively smaller portions of food they received in European restaurants.  A traditional Chinese belief is that you should not eat more than a handful of food for each meal.  For those of you who love to eat, you probably wish you had a larger hand now (smile)!  Even though some of you are well aware of what you should and shouldn’t eat, when an abundance of no-no food is available, your will power often gives in.  Luckily, a well-put-together herbal formula can curb your appetite naturally without much effort on your part!

Our Herbal Cocktail was specifically designed for this purpose.  The high protein herbal drink contains multigrains and powerful digestive enzymes.  This product curbs your appetitte, stops sugar craving, and nourishes your body.  A scoup of this powder in a cup of Cleansing-Balance Tea or made into an herbal smoothie can carry you over for about two hours if you are too busy to have a regular meal.  It has been considered a life-saver by my busy clients.

For those peope who fast periodically, they found that the combination of our Cleansing-Balance Tea and Herbal Cocktail is very nourishing during the fast.

2.  Block Fat from Forming Fatty Tissues.

As mentioned previously, the Standard American Diet (SAD) usually contains 40 to 60% fat in a given meal (A cheeseburger is a good example.)  If you wish to reduce weight, you need to learn to eat sensibly and avoid foods containing a high amount of fat.  However, as a human being, sometimes you deviate knowingly or unknowingly.  A good herbal formula for weight control will also eliminate a good portion of the fat you put in your body.  In other words, before the newly ingested fats have a chance to be stored in your body, these herbal formulas will be able to expel them provided that you are not overloading your body with fatty foods all the time.

Our Fitness Regular is designed as a fat blocker.  Over the past 15 years, our clients have also reported side benefits such as the balancing of their blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol.

3.  Burn the Existing Fat in Your Body and Turn It Into Energy:

In addition to preventing new fats from being stored in your body, the third function of an effective herbal weight control formula is to burn the existing fat in your system and turn it into useful energy.  As a result, you will feel energetic, mentally clear and productive.

As described in previous articles, you might go through a period of cleansing crisis if you have many toxins accumulated in your system.  Before your body can function at its optimal level, it has to clean house!  Drink a lot of water or our caffeine-free Cleansing-Balance Tea to flush the debris.  In this way, the cleansing and purging processes can be facilitated.  Our Fitness Plus is desgned as a fat burner. It contains strong Chinese herbal ingredients to burn the fat that has been stored in your body.  I have also included a good amount of Acai berries to facilitate cleansing.

All of our products contains no sugar, no dairy, no wheat, no corn, no yeasts, no alcohol, no caffeine, nor chemicals.  Only the finest natural ingredients are used in our formulation.  The end result:  steady and safe weight loss of two to three pounds per week.  The good news is that as long as you follow the guidelines for a healthy lifestyle, you won’t experience weight yo-yo’s that go hand in hand with fad diets.

In the next article, I will discuss how you can manage your stress effectively, how to restore your spiritual balance, and how to exrcise effortlessly without going to the gym.

Stay tuned!

Excess weight is a very costly health problem which can be associated with life threatening conditions such as atherosclerosis, hypertension, diabetes, cancer, respiratory disorders, gallbladder disease and metabolic dysfunction.  Being overweight can negatively affect health, appearance, self-esteem, and even earning potential.  Some researchers estimate that each pound of extra fat can cost an executive $1,000 a year in income.

Causes of Overweight Conditions:

Major causes of being overweight include poor eating habits, yeast disorders, thyroid dysfunction, psychological stress and spiritual imbalance.

Poor Eating Habits:

As mentioned previously, an average American eats 120 pounds of sugar per year.  From birth to age 70, on the average, an American eats eight cows, nine pigs and 15,000 eggs.  A well-balanced diet should contain less than 20% fat, less than 20% protein and more than 40% complex carbohydrates.  Excess intake of fat, protein and sugar can turn into overstorage of fat.  Americans also tend to overeat or not to eat at regular hours.  Some skip breakfasts and others have big meals right before bedtime.  Irregular hours and portions can confuse your biological clock and jeopardize your metabolic function.

Yeast Disorders:

As described in previous articles, yeast disorders are misdiagnosed and improperly treated by most medical professionals.  In addition to all the symptoms from head to toe such as foggy mind, allergies, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), chronic fatigue, low enegy, immune deficiency, arthritis-like aches and pains, skin rash, vaginal yeast infections, male yeast infections, depression, anxiety, loss of sexual interest, etc, a persistent overweight condition can be an indication that your metabolic function is being jeopardized by stubborn yeast disorders.

Yeast can creep in to any part of your body, especially sites which are weak to begin with.  For instance, if your thyroid gland is weak, then opportunistic yeasts can particularly affect your metabolic function and cause further deterioration.  If yeast disorders are not corrected, the weight problem will persist.  Some clients complained to me that they gained weight even if they just drank water!  Even though they may not have been as innocent as they portrayed themselves to be, there is some degree of reality in their complaint.  The fact is that it is very difficult for them to lose weight, no matter how hard they try.

Hypothyroidism:

Severe hypothyroidism manifests symptoms such as obesity, constipation, dry skin, cold intolerance, hair loss, puffy face and mental retardation.  Contributing factors include congenital and environmental causes.  The latter includes poor eating habits.  Constant excessive consumption of sugar causes overwork and exhaustion of the thyroid gland.  On top of it all, untreated yeast disorders will further weaken thyroid function.

Psychological Stress:

Some people manage to be in constant crises.  For those who are used to a dysfunctional behavioral pattern, they feel anxious or uneasy if their lives are peaceful.  Somehow they have to create a situation where there will be chaos, and thus their frantic behavior can be justified.

People who are not able to manage stress effectively will usually indulge themselves in emotional eating.  Food is a symbol of love and comfort across cultures, especially for those who associate food with parental approval and attention.

Spiritual Imbalance:

Many overweight people suffer from spiritual imbalance because they carry a great deal of  “unfinished business” on their shoulders.  In most cases, they crave approval from their parents.   Some are angry and hurt because they were abused sexually, mentally or physically during their childhood.  The predominant emotions are anger, resentment, grief and regret.  Some even feel sorry for themselves and feel that their negative feelings are well justified.  Usually they are unclear about the purpose of their existences.  They tend to “live to eat,” instead of “eat to live.”

In the next article I will discuss natural remedies for safe and healthy weight loss.  Stay tuned.

According to Wikipedia, the term underweight refers to a human who is considered to be under a healthy weight level. “Underweight” means weighing less than what is expected to be a healthy person.

Over 66% of people in the U.S. are overweight.  Many people consider being underweight as a “lucky” situation. The fact of the matter is that an underweight condition could be a severe health issue.

Some examples of health issues associated with an underweight condition include: anemia, chronic fatigue, poor blood circulation, poor digestion and absorption, weak immunity, amenorrhea (absence of menstruation), infertility, complications during pregnancy, osteoporosis, etc.

In developed countries, the most common cause of being underweight is malnutrition, secondary to diseases such as cancer, hyperthyroidism, and yeast and parasitic infections.

After having dealt with underweight clients, both male and female, regardless of ethnicity, I have found the following holistic treatment to be very effective:

1.    Remove excessive yeast and parasites

I usually suggest a mega-dose of our Herbal Detox program (Yeast-Para Control and Cleansing-Balance Tea) to remove the “unwanted tenants” — yeasts and parasites quickly.   It’s not unusual that my underweight clients take Cleansing-Balance Tea four capsules around the clock during the waking hours, and drink two pots of Cleansing-Balance Tea a day.  The end result?  They see a lot of yeast debris, parasite eggs (like seeds), and bodies of mature worms in the toilet, and they experience marked improvement in their health conditions.

2.    Concentrated Herbal Nutrition: Herbal Smoothie

The herbal smoothie I described in previous articles is great for underweight people to gain muscle weight (healthy weight).  My underweight clients usually have up to three servings a day.  The Herbal smoothie recipe consists of purified water, sugar-free soy milk/rice milk/almond milk/coconut milk, Herbal Cocktail, Yeast-Para Control, Female Vitality, or Male Vitality.

3.    Yeast-Free Nutrition

A yeast-free nutritional program containing no sugar, no dairy, no yeast, no wheat, no caffeine, no alcohol, no nicotine, nor chemicals starves yeasts and parasites and nourishes your body.  The more my underweight clients stick to this nutritional program, the faster they gain healthy weight.  To learn what to eat and what to avoid, follow my yeast-free cookbook, Healthy and Tasty: Dr. J’s Anti-Yeast Cooking.

4.    Regular Exercise

Exercise improves healthy appetite, blood circulation, and oxygenation of body cells.  All of this helps underweight individuals gain muscle weight (healthy weight).  If the individual is too weak to engage in vigorous exercise, start with a few minutes of slow walking, and gradually increase to a higher capacity when body strength and stamina increase.

5.    Stress Management

People who are underweight tend to worry more than ordinary people do.  Stress management techniques such as meditation, prayers, affirmations, deep emotional releasing, writing letters to finish “unfinished business”, etc. have proven to be very effective in reducing anxiety and increasing relaxation.  For the details, read my book, Breaking the Yeast Curse: Food and Unconditional Love for Magic Healing.
