Q.  I always have pains in my breast starting about two weeks before my monthly cycle.  Can you tell me why?

A.  It seems that you have been experiencing PMS (Pre-Menstrual Syndrome).  PMS usually starts about 10 days before your period.  During that time period, your hormones change.  For example, your estrogen increases.  Your blood volume increases due to the estrogen increase.  Increased blood volume also increases blood sugar that feeds the yeasts and parasites in your body. When your little enemies are well fed, they ferment and release gas that give you pain.  Another reason is that increased blood volume makes your breast gorge and tender to touch.

The solutions include:

1)      Dietary change: adopting an Anti-Yeast nutritional program containing no sugar, no dairy, no wheat, no yeasts, no alcohol, no caffeine, no nicotine, nor chemicals.  Particularly avoid sugar since it may cause mood swings.  My yeast-free cookbook, Healthy and Tasty: Dr. J’s Anti-Yeast Cooking gives more information about what you can eat and what to avoid.  You can visit our website at www.drjsbest.com and order the e-book.

2)   Herbal Therapy:  When you experience PMS, usually your body is toxic.  My suggestion is to begin with our Herbal Detox program (Yeast-Para Control and Cleansing-Balance Tea).  Combine this with Female Vitality to yield fast relief.  Usually my clients report relief after one or two cycles.

3)    Exercise Regularly:

Whatever exercise you are used to, maintain it.  You may also add slow walking of 30 minutes a day.  Exercise improves your blood circulation and prevents the blood volume to stagnate in certain parts of your body.

4)    Manage Stress Effectively:

Stress is correlated with the severity of PMS.  Go to my website: www.drjsbest.com to download a FREE 10-Minute Meditation guide.  If you practice this “fast” meditation method daily, you will soon be in peace and harmony with your body, mind and spirit.

In the previous two articles, I explained why PMS (Pre-Menstrual Syndrome) is easily treatable if you follow five drug-free remedies: 1) Dietary Change to nourish your body and starve yeasts and parasites; 2) Herbal Therapy to detox and balance your hormones.

In this article, I will address why Regular Exercise, Stress Management, and Sexercise are also important to help eliminate PMS (Pre-Menstrual Syndrome)

Regular Exercise:

Exercise improves blood circulation.  Yeasts and parasites love a still environment.  When your blood flows smoothly, the environment is not conducive for the overgrowth of yeasts and parasites.  Exercise also generates a natural chemical called “endorphin” – the morphine within.  Morphine is a pain killer.  Therefore, exercise reduces or eliminates menstrual cramps.

You don’t need to have a gym membership to exercise.  Our ancestors did not have gyms anyway.  For beginners, simple slow walking around the block in your neighborhood (or at the mall if you are concerned about safety) can be very effective.  Do it regularly.  Don’t wait until PMS occurs.  If you also suffer from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), just start with 5 to 10 minutes of slow walking and slowly build up to 30 minutes a day.  When you walk, don’t think!  Chances are you have been thinking too much!  Just enjoy the trees and sing with the birds!

Stress Management:

Stress is part of life.  Stress can propel you to the next level of success if you manage it effectively.  In the Chinese language, the word crisis consists of two characters: danger and opportunity (危機).  PMS usually correlates with unmanaged stress.  If you see every challenge in life as an opportunity to learn, grow and expand, then you will enjoy harmony in your life.  You will not be controlled by mood swings.  When you are in harmony with your life, you will be in harmony with your body!

Sexercise:

The Chinese have long believed that if a young woman has PMS, she will grow out of it after she is married.  Why?  Sexercise!

Sex is a great remedy for PMS.  Good sex increases self-esteem and improves blood circulation.  When you enjoy good quality and quantity of sex with the right partner, you feel loved and energized.

Women who suffer from PMS are usually sexually inactive despite marriage.  Sexual desire and potency do not have to decline with age.  Some of my clients enjoy frequent sex (at least three or four times a week) in their 80s!  You are never too old or too tired for sex.  Remember two principles: 1) you either use it or lose it; and 2) practice makes perfect.  When you learn to enjoy sex on a regular basis, you will enjoy being a female.  When you enjoy being a female or being who you are, chances are you will say goodbye to PMS!

If you follow the five drug-free remedies described in this three-part article: yeast-free nutritional program, Chinese herbal therapy, regular exercise, stress management and sexercise, your PMS will soon dissipate!

In a previous article, I mentioned that PMS (Pre-menstrual Syndrome) is easily treatable if you follow five drug-free remedies:

1) Dietary Change to nourish your body and starve yeasts and parasites

2) Herbal Therapy to detox and balance your hormones

3) Regular Exercise to improve your blood circulation

4) Stress Management to reduce mood swings

5) Sexercise to facilitate your energy flow and increase your self-esteem.

To elaborate:

Dietary Change:

You need to follow “Dr. J’s Eight Commandments:” no sugar, no dairy, no wheat, no yeasts, no alcohol, no caffeine, no nicotine, nor chemicals.  Why?  Here is the answer:  the first 7 items are the favorite foods for yeasts and parasites.  The 8th item (chemicals) clog your liver and kidneys and deplete your immune system.   It may be a tall order to wean yourself from these items, since the Standard American Diet (SAD) is full of these no-no’s.  Do the best you can.  If you could do 50%, you will get 50% of the benefits.  If you could do 75%, you will get 75% of the benefits.  If you do 0%, you will continue to feed your little enemies in your body, and you will continue to struggle with PMS every month!  To learn what to eat and what to avoid, follow my yeast-free cookbook, Healthy and Tasty: Dr. J’s Anti-Yeast Cooking.  Both hard copy and e-books are available.

Herbal Therapy:

Adhering to my yeast-free nutritional program prevents new assaults.  However, if you have already accumulated toxins for many years, use herbal therapy to obtain better and faster results.  Within three months, my clients usually report a marked improvement, or even complete freedom from PMS symptoms.  Herbal Detox (Yeast-Para Control and Cleansing-Balance Tea) and Hormonal Regeneration(Female Vitality) are favored by my clients to combat PMS.  By removing excess yeasts and parasites, and cleansing your liver and kidneys, you allow your body to have a clean slate to heal.  Adding Female Vitality to regenerate the hormonal system facilitates the healing process, improves your mental concentration, and uplifts your mood.

In part 3 of this article, I will elaborate on how regular exercise, stress management and sexercise can also help you say good-bye to PMS.  Stay tuned!

Q.        I have severe PMS (Pre-Menstrual Syndrome).  I experience bloating, sugar craving, mood swings and extreme fatigue before the period, and bad cramps during the period.   Why?  I don’t want to rely on diuretics and pain pills.  What is your suggestion for drug-free remedies?

A.        About seven to ten days before your period, your estrogen and blood volume increases.  This is why you experience mood swings, bloating, and water retention.  When your blood volume increases, your blood sugar level also elevates.  The elevated blood sugar feeds the yeasts and parasites in your body.  When your little enemies are well-fed, they thrive and want more.  They scream “Feed me!  Feed me!”  Oftentimes people would continue feeding them with simple carbohydrates (refined sugar such as chocolate).  A vicious cycle ensues.  When yeasts and parasites begin to eat you alive, you will experience extreme fatigue and cramps.

Diuretics (water pills) and pain pills only provide you with temporary relief.  What you need is an “overhaul” of your life style:

1) Dietary Change to nourish your body and not feed yeasts and parasites

2) Herbal Therapy to detox and balance your hormones

3) Regular Exercise to improve your blood circulation

4) Stress Management to reduce mood swings

5) Sexercise to facilitate your energy flow and increase your self-esteem.

In the next article, I will give you more details.  Stay tuned!

Menopause is when you have not had a period (or even light spotting) for 12 consecutive months. The menopausal symptoms experienced by most women actually occur during pre- or peri-menopause period.

During the peri-menopause stage, three key hormones such estrogen, testosterone, and progesterone fluctuate, and mostly are on the decline.  Consequently, you may experience various symptoms.  The most common ones are hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, irritability, insomnia, irregular periods, loss of libido, painful intercourse, difficulty concentrating, itchy skin, headaches, bloating, gastro-intestinal disturbances (such as gas), weight gain, hair loss or thinning, light-headedness, depression and anxiety.

As your estrogen levels decline during pre-menopause,your vagina wall will become thinner and weaker. Consequently, it can be easily irritated during intercourse and leave tiny scars or cuts where bacteria and yeasts can flourish.  So, vaginal yeast infections become common symptoms associated with menopause.

Treatment basically consists of regulating the hormonal levels.  Female Vitality is excellent for that purpose.  Female Vitality contains more than 20 ingredients of high quality Chinese herbs such as Ho-Shou-Wu, black cohosh, wild yam, etc. and absorbable vitamins needed for health promotion and maintenance.  The end results:  improved conditions for your hair, nail and skin, increased mental clarity, uplifted mood, productivity and sexual energy.

Based on my more than 30 years of clinical experience, I have found that women who do not have a healthy lifestyle tend to suffer more menopausal symptoms.  For example, when sugar consumption is high, episodes of hot flashes also increase. Therefore, it’s important to follow a yeast-free nutritional program that contains no sugar, dairy, wheat, yeasts, alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, and chemicals.  It comes to a conscious decision between following the yeast-free nutritional program, or suffering from various menopausal symptoms.  If you would like to find out more about what you should eat (and what to avoid), follow the recipes in my yeast-free cookbook, Healthy and Tasty: Dr. J’s Anti-Yeast Cooking.

If you have excess toxins in your body which acerbate the menopausal symptoms, consider our Herbal Detox program (consisting of Yeast-Para Control and Cleansing-Balance Tea) to remove the toxins.

Lifestyle changes are also important for promoting a healthy menopausal process. These include regular exercise, becoming a non-smoker, and getting physically and mentally fit.  To promote your mental health, I encourage you to follow the guidelines in my book, Breaking the Yeast Curse: Food and Unconditional Love for Magic Healing

The symptoms of menopause usually last for the whole menopause transition (until the mid 50s), but some women may experience them for the rest of their lives.  Therefore, it’s important to adopt a holistic approach to eradicate or prevent menopausal symptoms.

In Part 1 of this article, I addressed three natural remedies for Pre-Menstrual Syndrome (PMS), including yeast-free nutrition, herbal detox, and hormonal regeneration.  A yeast-free nutritional approach will prevent allergens such as simple sugars, dairy, wheat, and yeasts from entering the body.  In the pre-menstrual period, I recommended to increase the intake of complex carbohydrates and crucifers such as broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, and brussel sprouts.  This type of food will help reduce the amount of hormones such as prostaglandin, estrogen, progesterone and prolactin, and thus reduce water retention, bloating, weight gain, and mood swings.

If you want to learn more about what you can eat and what you should avoid, follow my yeast-free cookbook: Healthy and Tasty: Dr. J’s Anti-Yeast Cooking.   Secondly, go on our Herbal Detox (consisting of Yeast-Para Control and Cleansing-Balance Tea ) and hormonal regeneration product with Female Vitality.  Our Herbal Detox program removes excess yeasts and parasites, thus cleaning up existing toxins.  Female Vitality balances the female hormonal system and allows the female hormones to work for you instead of against you.

The following are additional natural remedies for PMS:

1)    Exercise:

Exercise is particularly helpful with PMS because it generates endorphins, a morphine from within.  Endorphin is an opium-like, natural substance which reduces pain and gives a calm, high feeling (without the use of drugs)!  Again, don’t wait until you are in the middle of PMS to exercise.  Do 30 minutes of slow walking every day.  This type of exercise will improve your blood circulation and thus reduce the tendency of water retention and muscle aches.  The heavy feeling and cramps in your pelvic area can also be reduced or eliminated.  Regular exercise can also strengthen the muscle tone in your lower abdomen and thus increase the tolerance for pain or discomfort.  A side benefit is that it also helps you become a better lover when you have tight, instead of loose, muscles.  And remember, slow walking is free of charge!

 2)    Hands-On Healing:

Hands-on healing techniques such as therapeutic touch and gentle chiropractic adjustment known as cranio-sacral technique can be very soothing during the onset of PMS.   If you feel too uncomfortable to have anyone touch you while experiencing severe cramps, just put your hand(s) on the area that is cramping, such as the lower abdomen or hip areas.  The healing energy in your own hands can reduce the cramps and give some relief to pain.   You can do this while lying down or sitting up, such as while driving.

 3)    Stress Management:

Women who are under heavy emotional stress often suffer from more PMS.  Your body and mind affect each other at all times.  Emotional stress can cause many kinds of physical problems including PMS.  Remember, all physical illnesses have symbolic meanings.  PMS involves the female reproductive system. It requires the examination of emotional issues concerning one’s femininity.  A woman with a positive self-image usually takes good care of herself and does not give PMS a chance to creep in or sustain itself.

 4)    Sexercise:

The Chinese have long believed that if a young woman has PMS, she will grow out of it after she is married.  Why?  Sexercise!

Sex is the best remedy for PMS.  Good sex increases self-esteem and improves blood circulation.  When you enjoy good quality and quantity of sex with the right partner, you feel loved and energized.

Women who suffer from PMS or menopause usually are sexually inactive whether they are married or not.  Sexual desire and potency do not have to decline with age.  Some of my clients enjoy frequent sex (at least three or four times a week) in their 80s!  You are never too old or too tired for sex!  Remember two principles: 1) you either use it or lose it; and 2) practice makes perfect!   When you learn to enjoy sex on a regular basis, you will learn to enjoy being a female.  Also remember, Female Vitality can help improve sexual function.  When you enjoy being a female or being who you are, chances are you will say goodbye to PMS!
