Prostate is a walnut-sized gland located directly below the bladder in men.  The prostate gland produces fluid (semen) that nourishes and transports sperm. 

Prostatitis is inflammation of the prostate gland. Symptoms of Prostatitis include:

  • Frequent urination, particularly at night (nocturia)
  • Pain or burning sensation on urination (dysuria)
  • Pain in the abdomen, groin or lower back
  • Pain in the area between the scrotum and rectum (perineum)
  • Pain or discomfort of the penis or testicles
  • Painful orgasms (ejaculations)
  • Flu-like symptoms

According to the Mayo clinic staff, prostatitis can be caused by a number of different things. They believed that if it’s caused by a bacterial infection, it can usually be treated successfully by antibiotics. However, 80% of prostatitis isn’t caused by a bacterial infection or a cause is never identified.   Therefore, they suspect that the causes could be immunity or nervous disorders.  Based on my more than 30 years of clinical experience, I have found that these so called “non-bacterial infections” are actually yeast and parasitic infections.  And yes, low immunity and stress are incubators for yeast and parasitic infections!

Prostatitis may have acute or chronic symptoms.  Most cases are chronic and the causes are unknown according to the Mayo Clinic.  They are often referred to as chronic “abacterial prostatitis” or chronic pelvic pain syndrome.  Because of the ambiguity from the medical arena on this subject, you need take full responsibility to heal yourself.  Instead of being experimented on with various kinds of antibiotics which can make your health conditions worse, go for a natural approach.

Here is a recipe for sea vegetable lovers.  Sea vegetables are excellent natural source of iodine.  If you consume sea vegetables regularly, you will not need to worry about taking potassium iodine (KI) for severe radiation exposure.  I just made a pot of Tofu-Seaweed Soup last evening.  Both my stomach and thyroid are happy ….

Tofu-Seaweed Soup

 Ingredients:

1.  1/2 tub hard tofu

2.  2 sheets dry seaweed (flaky type for wrapping sushi) or ½ cup of dry shredded kelp

3.  1/2 cup carrots, sliced

4.  1 slice ginger

5.  A dash of sea salt

6.  A sprinkle of unprocessed sesame oil

7.  3 cups purified water                                                 

Yield: 4 servings

Procedure:

1.  Cut ginger into thin strips.  Put it in 3 cups of purified water together with peeled and sliced carrots and a dash of sea salt in a stainless steel or ceramic pot.  Boil the content on high heat.

2.  Rinse off water from the tub and cut tofu into about one-inch long, 1/2-inch wide and 1/2-inch thick dice.  (Put some purified water in the tub and save the leftover tofu in the refrigerator.  Use the leftover tofu within three days.)

3.  Bring the content to boil, and put in tofu.  Cut flaky seaweed into pieces (or tear with your fingers) and drop them into the soup. 

4.  Add a sprinkle of unprocessed sesame oil, and stir gently.   Serve with brown rice and other dishes.

Please note:

If you use shredded dry kelp, soak it in purified water for about 10 minutes. Throw away the soaking water, rinse well, and boil it with purified water, shredded ginger, sea salt.   Bring it to boil on high heat, then add sliced carrots, and then add diced tofu and bring it boil again.  Stir gently.  Sprinkle some unprocessed sesame oil.   Mmmmm ….  Yum Yum ….

Nutritional Benefits:

This dish is very rich in protein and minerals, especially iodine.  Iodine is excellent for metabolic function of the thyroid.  It is also helpful for growing healthy hair, skin and nails.  For those of you who don’t mind the fishy taste of seaweed, this dish is great for weight watchers because it is low in calories, rich in protein and great for metabolic function!

There can be allergic reactions to consuming iodine.  Iodine is basically poisonous.  Chinese medicinal lore cautions not to consume iodine and persimmon (a fruit) together; otherwise it may cause instant death.

Large doses of potassium iodide (130 mg/day) may be consummed by people with cases of large amounts of radiation exposure.  Potassium iodide should not be taken for long periods of time at that dosage.   Do no exceed 10 days of potassium iodide consumption unless you are near a failed nuclear reactor.

Some people may have a potential allergic reaction at 130 mg/day, so it would be best to take a smaller dose initially and build up the dosage over a few days. If you are certain you’ve had a large amount of exposure to radiation, it might be worth risking the allergic reaction than the thyroid cancer.

Excessive iodine/iodide can be dangerous. Symptoms of iodine poisoning include fast heart rate, skin irritation, thinning of secretions (watery eyes, nose or saliva), metallic taste in the mouth, fever, acne, nervousness and headache. If symptoms of iodine poisoning occur, discontinue immediately and consult with your health practitioner.  Usually calcium can be a good antidote.

For people who are allergic to iodine, don’t take iodine orally to prevent thyroid cancer.  Instead, use tincture of iodine to swab the throat and abdomen area.  That can provide some protection against thyroid cancer if a nuclear accident occurs near you and the radiation contains radioactive iodine.

Sea vegetables are excellent natural sources of iodine.  For example, one table spoon of kelp (seaweed) yields approximately 12 mg of iodine.  The daily recommended dosage is only 150 mcg (1mg = 1,000 mcg).  Therefore, eating sea vegetables regularly will give you plenty of iodine to protect you against thyroid cancer due to a large amount of radiation exposure.

In my previous articles, I clarified that Americans in the U. S. do not have to be concerned about Acute Radiation Syndrome (ARS) from the nuclear accident at Fukushima, Japan, since  ARS only occurs when there is a large amount of exposure to radiation in a short period of time.

What we need to be concerned about is chronic radiation sickness.  Even though the power of radiation particles diffuse after wind carries them to distant places from the accident site, most radiation particles have a long half-life.  For example, cesium: Cs-137 has a half-life of 30 years  Radiation particles can contaminate the water supply, food, environment, pets, and people. 

I have detailed the symptoms of chronic radiation sickness in a previous article.  Now let’s look at what we can do to prevent chronic radiation sickness.  Radiation burns and kills.  It destroys the DNA in the white cells, and thus destroys the immunity.  Therefore, the most important task in preventing chronic radiation sickness is to keep your immunity strong, so that your body can fight off the ill effects of radiation.

How do we keep our immunity strong?  Remove toxins on a regular basis and allow your body’s innate intelligence to heal and protect you.  The following are some important tips:

1)    Herbal Detox:

Stay on our Herbal Detox program consisting of Yeast-Para Control and Cleansing-Balance Tea for at least three months in a row (if you are symptom free).  If you already have some physical symptoms whether they are related to chronic radiation sickness or not, you need to stay on the Herbal Detox program until you are symptom-free.   We all have yeasts and parasites in our body.  When our immunity is strong, we can co-exist with these microbial organisms harmoniously.  When our immunity is low, then our health is controlled by them.

Yeast-Para Control is designed to remove excess yeasts and parasites in your body, and Cleansing-Balance Tea is designed to flush out the “debris”, especially from your liver and kidneys.  These two formulas work hand in hand to keep your body clean and your immunity strong.

2)    Yeast-free nutrition

3)    Take a Salt Shower or Bath:

Take a shower or bath before bed every night.  Radiation particles can be washed off by a lot of water and soap.  Better yet, take an Epsom or sea salt shower or bath before bed several times a week.  A salt shower or bath not only relaxes your body, but washes off radiation particles that may have fallen on your skin. 

4)    Keep Your Environment Clean:

Vacuum your carpet or wipe your hardwood floor frequently.  Follow the protocol by the Radiation Protection Office to handle and dispose of radiation-contaminated trash.

5)    Soak Vegetable and Peel Fruits:

Soak vegetables with a tea spoon of sea salt for 10 to 20 minutes, rinse off thoroughly before cooking.  Peel the fruits that you would not ordinarily peel the skin, such as apples and pears, etc.

6)    Drink Purified Water:

Drink bottled water or use a purifier.  Change filters more frequently than usual if you use a purifier.

7)    Eat Sea Vegetables on a Regular Basis

Sea vegetable such as kelp is an excellent source of iodine.  One table spoon of kelp yields approximately 12 mg of iodine while the daily recommendated dosage is only 150 mcg (1mg =1,000 mcg).  If you eat sea vegetables regularly, you don’t have to worry about taking potassium iodine (KI) to prevent thyroid cancer if exposed to a large dosage of radiation in a very short period of time.

8)    Keep your pets clean:

Shampoo your pets more frequently than usual.  Radiation particles can fall on your pet’s fur and make you or your pet(s) sick.  Make sure that you wash your hand thoroughly after you pet your pet(s).

9)    Choose Love and Peace instead of Fear and Anxiety:

If you are on the spiritual path, you may know that natural disasters are the results of collective energy.  Fear and anxiety breeds more natural or man-made disasters, while love and peace will help us handle all kinds of challenges.  Given the choice, which do you prefer?

Q.       I have been dealing with skin issues on my penis for about 15 years (psoriasis, dermatitis, herpes, and warts) and have tried all kinds of creams (taclonex, protopic, laser treatments).  My biggest concern is getting penile cancer.  Do you have any suggestions?

A.       What you have described are common male yeast infection symptoms.  I would suggest adopting a holistic approach – a lifestyle called “yeast-free living”.  First, remove the fear of getting cancer.  Fear only attracts what you don’t want.  Even if you have cancer, there are drug-free treatments to reduce or eliminate symptoms.

Here are some tips for treating male genital yeast infections:

1)    Use a cotton ball and Witch Hazel to clean the affected area.  Then use Vitamin E oil to smear on top of the skin.  Make sure that you wear surgical gloves to prevent spreading.  If you cannot find liquid Vitamin E oil, just break the foot-ball shaped Vitamin E soft jell, and smear the content on the affected skin.  Do this as often as you can, and at least once a day before bed. 

2)    Abstain from sex during the outbreak of herpes, warts, psoriasis, or any kind of dermatitis.  All these genital skin infections are yeast-related, and they are sexually transmittable.  Even if you are symptom-free, you will want to wear a condom to protect your partner, or to protect yourself from being re-infected by your partner.

3)    Before you have sex with a new partner, you always want to disclose what you have.  Your potential partner can then make an informed decision whether s/he want to be involved with you sexually.  I have counseled many angry and regretful couples because the “truth” was not disclosed beforehand.

4)    Follow a yeast-free nutritional program consisting of no sugar, dairy, wheat, yeast, alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, and chemicals (“Dr. J’s Eight Commandments” as detailed in my cookbook, Healthy & Tasty: Dr. J’s Anti-Yeast CookingStaying away from the Standard American Diet (SAD) will nourish your body and starve yeasts and parasites that are causing you long-term skin infections.

Q.        I had digestion problems all my life. I have IBS on the constipation side and I am not able to have any milk products. I cramp up and the gas just sits in my digestion. I have gone to many doctors and they want me to go on medical drugs and I don’t like taking them. I would never get well by eating right and do it natural. Please I need some advice. I am so lost. Thank you for listening to me.  

A.         Irritated Bowel Syndrome (IBS) consists of a cluster of digestive tract symptoms including alternation of constipation and diarrhea, flatulence (gas), gas pain, fatigue, foggy mind, depression, etc.  The major causes of IBS are the overgrowth of yeasts and parasites, and chronic stress.

As in the articles I posted before, and as detailed in my book, Breaking the Yeast Curse: Food and Unconditional Love for Magic Healing, there are physical and psychological causes of yeasts and parasitic infections.
