allergiesFlu season starts to peak in November and continues through April.  Experts say we are entering one of the worst flu seasons in recent history.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend getting your flu vaccine in the months of October and November in order to help prevent flu and colds.  However, even the flu shot may not capture all strains of flu.  Many of my clients reported that they became sick after getting the flu shot.

Here are my recommendations to treat and prevent flu and colds via a natural, drug-free, holistic approach:

1.  Proper Hydration:

When you are dehydrated, the “sewage system” in your body is stagnated.  Diseases of all kinds can use that unhealthy environment as an incubator.  How much fluid should you have everyday?  Usually I recommend eight to 10 cups of fluids (each cup about 8 oz.)   This can include six cups of our Cleansing-Balance Tea, one to three cups of purified drinking water, and one cup of soup.  Our Cleansing-Balance Tea not only hydrates you, but also cleanses your liver and kidneys.

2.  Plenty of Rest:

3.  Avoiding Cold and Damp Environment

To combat this year’s freezing climate, get a space heater to keep you dry and warm in the room you work or rest.  I purchased a space heater online for about $15.  This is truly a lifesaver and doesn’t incur a large electricity bill for heating the entire home.

4.  Anti-Yeast Nutritional Program

Whenever possible, avoid sugar, dairy, wheat, yeasts, caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, and chemicals.  They are favorite foods for yeasts and parasites.  The Standard American Diet (SAD) is loaded with the above.  If you follow my “Eight Commandments,” you will be able to prevent new assaults to your body.  My yeast-free cookbook: Healthy and Tasty: Dr. J’s Anti-Yeast Cooking will guide you to learn more about what to eat and what to avoid.

5.  Herbal Therapy to Improve Your Immunity:

If you perceive that your life is stressful, in addition to daily meditation using my 10-minute meditation guide, prayers or chanting can be very effective in reducing stress.  Some people only pray or chant when they need help.  Prayers or chanting are like spiritual showers.  Your physical body can smell when you don’t take a shower everyday; likewise your spiritual being smells when you don’t pray or chant everyday.  Prayers are free.  Keep praying or chanting everyday to reduce your stress and maintain your physical and spiritual wellbeing.

7.  Daily Exercise

Regular exercise improves your blood circulation, transportation of nutrition, and secretion of endorphins.  Endorphins are natural morphine produced within your body.  They enable you to feel that you are in a calm yet high state naturally through exercise.  You can exercise anywhere.  I usually do in-place jogging while praying more than 300 times a day at the same time, everyday, rain or shine!

past_life_healing_1In the previous article, I give you an introductory description regarding the increasing number of educated people who believe in reincarnation.  I grew up in an environment in which most people believe that the soul has eternal life, and that the spirit of a person does not end when the physical body dies.  However, I had no proof and thus no strong personal belief until 1988.


At that time my office was in Santa Monica, Southern California.  Holistic health was seen as pioneering endeavor in the field of health and healing.  Consequently, my radio talk show on “The Holistic Approach to Health and Success” had a sizable following in Southern California.  One day, a repeat radio listener walked into my office and insisted that I accept his cash payment for past-life therapy.


I ridiculed him, “Don’t you have enough to deal with in this life time?  Why do you want to get into past lives?”


He explained, “I am a carpenter.  I make good money.  I have a beautiful girl friend and we have a great relationship.  I should be happy.  However, I often have unexplainable crying spells.  I feel so sad, and my stomach often hurts.  I went through many tests but all the test results came back negative.  I have listened to your radio shows for a while, and I know you do hypnosis.  Could you use hypnosis to regress me?  I think what I experience now has past life connections.”


I told him that I have never done past-life therapy before, and that it would be just an experiment.  He was adamant that I do a session for him to see what would happen.  I did, and the findings as well as the results were astonishing!


This is what was revealed after the hypnotic induction:


He was a cave man.  He spoke a different language so I had to ask him to translate for me.  He got into a tribal fight with a neighboring tribe.   A spear injured his stomach.  He ran into a cave to hide and died there.  In my hypnotic therapy process, I guided him to safely remove the spear from his stomach utilizing my hospital emergency room experience; I also guided him to heal his wound with an imaginary herbal paste.  When he perceived that he was healed, I guided him to walk toward the light.


Surprisingly, his crying spells and stomach pain dissipated after that session!  Since then, I diligently studied past-life therapy: I read every book on past-life therapy that was available in the market; I read every parapsychology journal that addressed past-life therapy; and I traded with past-life therapists to find out about some of my own past lives.


24 years have gone by and I have conducted countless sessions for my clients who are interested in finding out the connections between their current life and past lives.  As I mentioned in the previous article, the purpose of past life-therapy is to facilitate the following process: UNDERSTAND why you experience certain unexplainable life events in this lifetime; ACCEPT these experiences; FORGIVE the wrong doers (karmic debt collectors), and RELEASE your negative emotions associated with the karmic relationship.


In the next article, I will share with you more clinical examples of how my clients used past-life therapy to free themselves from a stagnant situation and heal their seemingly stubborn physical, emotional and spiritual traumas.  Stay tuned.

Meditation is a practice to achieve a state of calmness and peace.  Some people also use this practice to train the mind to develop insight.  When the mind is centered, the body functions better.  Many people report that both their mental and physical health improve after a period of meditation.

Many of my clients told me that they were too busy, or too lazy, or both, to meditate even though they were aware of the benefits of daily meditation.  Thus, I came up with “fast meditation” to suit the needs of people in a contemporary society!  Based on my more than thirty years of experience in meditation, I have designed a 10-Minute Meditation guide which can quickly help you quiet your mind and give you a sense of peace and deep relaxation.

            There are 1,440 minutes in a day.  If you cannot spare 10 minutes to do this “fast meditation,” you are not serious in improving the quality of your life!

You can do this “fast meditation” almost any time.  Just don’t do it while you are driving.  Otherwise, you may end up on the wrong side of the road!  Some people do it in the morning; some in the afternoon; others, in the evening.  Whatever schedule you can work out is fine.  The key is that you be consistent.  Like everything else, practice makes perfect!

According to the 2010 statistics by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), health spending is rising faster than incomes in most developed countries.   This raises questions about how these countries will pay for future health care needs.

The issue is particularly acute in the United States.  The health expenditure per capita was $7,538 in 2008.  The country not only spends much more per capita on health care than any other country, but also has had one of the fastest growth rates in health spending among developed countries.

The growth rate is usually measured by the percentage of gross domestic product (GDP).  In the United States, the health expenditure of GDP grew from 8.8% in 1980 to 15.2% in 2003, and keeps growing!

Despite this higher level of spending, the United States does not achieve better outcomes on many important health measures.  For example, type II diabetes, child obesity, cancer, etc. are on the rise.

We don’t own anything!  Not even our bodies!

Your body is a temporary home for your soul. 

However, while living in it, you need to take

good care of it.  Just like when you need to clean

and organize your apartment periodically;

otherwise, when you have to move to another

home, you will not be able to get your deposit

back.  Also, you will not get a good reference.

So, take good care of your body, and give your

soul a comfortable, temporary home.

Holistic health is a health practice that considers all aspects of life that may contribute to the total well-being of an individual.  The individual is treated as a whole person, not as parts of a machine.  Hence, all aspects of human needs including physical, mental, spiritual and financial are taken into consideration in the healing process.

In developed and developing countries, drug treatment is prevalent.  Drug treatment gives the diseased individuals a false belief that their symptoms can be cured by a magic bullet.  After their cabinets look like pharmacies, they realized that all the drugs they have been taking only gave them more side effects.  Usually this is time that they seek holistic treatment.

Based on my observation in more than three decades of holistic health care practice, I have found that those who are able, willing and ready to take full responsibility for their health, and make a total lifestyle change, tend to survive life-threatening diseases such as cancer.  At the least, their quality of life was greater than their counterparts who relied on chemotherapy, radiation or surgery.

Holistic healing, however, is not a new concept.  It is an ancient science dating back to at least 5,000 years ago. Holistic healing practitioners propagated the idea of a healthy way of living and being in harmony with nature.  The general principle of holism was summarized by Aristotle in theMetaphysics: “The whole is more than the sum of its parts”.  The philosopher Socrates also acknowledged the holistic approach and suggested that people should look at the body as a whole and not part-by-part.

The creator of Western medicine, Hypocrites, said “Do no harm!”  Unfortunately, many Western trained physicians have been influenced by the financial ties with pharmaceutical companies.  Prescription drug abuse has been a serious health issue in developed and developing countries.

This has prompted holistic health practices to become a more recognized and accepted medical practice since the 1970’s.  Holistic health has become more accepted as the primary care practice in some European countries such as Sweden.  In the U. S. and other developed or developing countries, there is a holistic health movement underway – moving away from drugs towards a drug-free, holistic treatment.
