Q. Is Fibromyalgia Hereditary?
A. According to the staff at the Mayo clinic, “if one of your parents or siblings has fibromyalgia, chances are you will get it!” According to my more than 30 years of clinical experience, I have found that fibromyalgia is not hereditary! As described in previous articles, the probable causes of fibromyalgia are yeast and parasitic infections, poor dietary habits, lack of exercise, dampness, psychological stress, and vitamin L (L for Love) deficiency.
If your mother had yeast and parasitic infections when she was pregnant with you, chances are you would be born with the yeast and parasitic infection symptoms because they can be passed on to you through blood stream and /or birth canal. Even though this cause is “congenital;” it’s not “hereditary” because of “genes.”
Besides, while growing up, you would knowingly or unknowingly adopt your parents’ lifestyle, including their dietary habits, the way they handle stress and conflicts, the way they express love and affections, their physical activities, etc. Therefore, my observation is that fibromyalgia is a learned behavior rather than “hereditary.”
Many scientists including the staff at the Mayo clinic are looking for the “genes” that cause fibromyalgia. Until this day, their conclusion is that the cause of fibromyalgia is “UNKNOWN!”
This is rubbish that fibromyalgia is a learned behavior! I was diagnosed with the illness at 42,( 10 years ago ) when working in a very stressful enviroment, dealing with abusive clients. My daughter had already moved out of the family home, her eating habits are entirely different to mine ( I eat only organic healthy produce, am intolerant to gluten, dairy and some fruits and other products and am extremely sensitive to medications), and was always very active before I was disabled with this dibilitaing illness. My daughter has recently been diagnosed with the illness while looking after two children under 5 . Her lifestyle is totally opposite to my own, her diet is different, as is her activity levels. She does not enjoy exercise as I did, eats more unhealthy fast foods , has no intolerances although suffers with IBS as I do, but still has the illness, although not so severly.
I feel insulted with your ‘opinion’ as you have no medical expertise in the illness.
Oh, and I have even tried holistic healing techniques and have even purchased a far infra red therapy unit to assist my recovery, but this has not helped either!!! So much for ‘Your body is a tempoary home for your soul’!!!
My mother and my sister both have Fms. I have been unwell for about ten yrs and am now seeing a Doctor as I think I also have it. Does it run in familes? Seems strange.
